That’s an awful thing to say. Amber Frey didn’t know he was married, she thought he was widowed. As soon as she learned the truth, she contacted the police and started recording Scott and cooperating with them fully. She did absolutely nothing wrong and has been attacked relentlessly for years.

That said, Scott’s cold, deceptive character as demonstrated on those tapes is likely why he was convicted. The jury hated him. We all hate him. He’s an awful person. I don’t know whether he’s guilty. I think I would vote to acquit because the prosecution proved he was a terrible person: a liar, a cheater, indifferent to Laci and Conner’s fate. But I don’t think the evidence proves that Scott killed Laci.

I’m always suspicious when law enforcement resists DNA testing. It’s so much more advanced than it was at the time of the murder. If they really firmly believe Scott did it, they should want those results.

A lot of the arguments in this thread show how personality based this conviction was. For example, if you need to hire an expensive attorney you might be looking at what you could sell. That Scott wanted to sell Laci’s car again demonstrates what a pig he is, but it’s not evidence of murder.

What about him fleeing toward Mexico? Was he just in the mood for a vacation?
I don't think so. The fact that he dyed his hair blond and fled toward Mexico supports a consciousness of guilt. If he were innocent, he would have been in Modesto supporting the investigation. But he's an arrogant prick who always has his nose in the air, even after 20 years in the slammer. He's an absolute pig, and he should rot in jail.

Scott can be a sociopath who did not care about Laci and Conner without necessarily being the killer. No one wants to go to prison. Fleeing because you fear prison means you fear prison. It doesn’t mean you definitely did the crime. I don’t know whether he did it. I’m not arguing that he’s innocent. I don’t think the state made their case and I don’t like the opposition to most of the DNA testing. I realize there are people in this thread arguing that he’s without a doubt not guilty and saying nasty things about Amber Frey. I’m not on board with that. At all. I just have some doubt and would like to see the testing done.

I have said this for years. I fully believe he is a sociopath, but I do not believe he killed her. Many people are sociopaths. It’s a personality disorder that is believed to be present in 1%-3% of the population, to some extent or other. Obviously, not all of these people are violent. I think Scott’s weird behavior in the days after Laci went missing was his sociopathy on full display. It’s upsetting that people have such an emotional reaction to that they think the death penalty is appropriate, despite the total lack of evidence.

Yes, It's a tradition to coincidentally fish where your wife's body was dumped. It is more efficient than driving to a different body of water for the fishing.

It was broadcast everywhere that he was fishing there and the cops were heavily focused on him. That could have made it the perfect place for the killer to dump the body after the fact.

So the killers were just hanging around with their corpse for several days or weeks? Or went back to where they initially dumped it to retrieve it and move to the fishing spot?

I also always believed Scott was innocent. It makes no sense why he wouldn’t confess after all these years since he was sentenced to life anyway. I don’t think he was a sociopath who would dismember and behead his wife and wrap twine around his sons neck without leaving a trace.

You think an 8 month pregnant woman is going to investigate a possible crime alone? She could walk back home and call the police?

I do. People don’t always have the instincts they should have. Recently, an older woman in Sterling was run over and killed after she tried to confront the guy who was stealing her car.

Why would he dump a body in broad daylight when fishing? Wouldn’t he do so at night when no one is there? He left the marina at 2:15pm.

The neighbors report the dog was barking and wandering the neighborhood with its collar and leash around 10:30-10:45am and one woman placed the dog back in the Petersons’ backyard.

That’s the same time the suspicious van and burglary was going on. She was obviously kidnapped at that time and Scott’s innocent. Scott was at work and on route to the marina at 10:45am. If he killed her, why would he leave the dog to scatter the neighborhood and alert attention from neighbors after just committing a murder at home?

What evidence? There is no evidence in this case.

The burden of proof is on the state to show evidence and all they had was Amber Frey.

The cops lied about the burglary across the street happening on December 26th. One news reporter said that would be impossible because their news truck was parked right there among others and they would’ve seen it. The burglary was very clearly on the 24th per eyewitnesses. The cops didn’t do anything with the tipsters who said they saw a heavily pregnant woman talking to some men in an argument or a woman walking a dog.

The state’sstory is Laci died before the walk as she was mopping the kitchen floor and Scott attacked her from behind. It’s really ridiculous.

The cow also moved Lacis remains to the area Scott was fishing even though that’s not where passerby discovered it.

The state lied and had to force evidence on this case on Scott because they didn’t have any.

Yes. Laci’s personality was very forward and talkative according to family. Originally, Lacis family believed Scott was innocent and the robbers did it. The first couple of weeks they were upset at Nancy Grace and others for pointing the finger at Scott.

After Amber Frey came forward, Lacis family were convinced Scott killed Laci.
