I have no respect for people that come on here and perpetuate lies and stereotypes. People don't just do that for no reason, it's pretty reasonable to assume there's probably some issues in their home life or that they're compensating for something else. |
A W&M defender brought it up and is subsequently caving to publish the yield rate for whatever reason, so everyone can move on. Gish galloping essentially. |
No Susan, stereotyping colleges on an online COLLEGE forum doesn't mean someone is being abused behind closed doors. You should find some time away from the keyboard. |
Whew! Finally found a real statistic that makes them win. 48% admit rate for Davidson, YAY! Now we can get back to our regularly scheduled programming. |
Sorry about that...meant. 48% YIELD for Davidson. |
A W&M "defender" injected Davidson into the conversation? Really? |
Back to the actual discussion, DC is at Richmond, and I do think it's liberal arts college roots make it shine! Currently, her department gives $2000 per student for any conference fees they want. She got research freshman year, because a professor who liked her came to her-she didn't have to advocate. She went on a trip to Belgium on the college's dime to present her research and to network with faculty members at another university, and she was handed an internship by an alum for meeting with him to discuss his work. It's a small place with a very tight alum group that looks out for its own. |
Where am I refusing to admit the yield rate is higher. You just refuse to look at WHY it's higher. 338 of the 525 incoming students in the class of 2027 were accepted ED. So that's 65% of the incoming class. W&M on the other hand takes just under 40% of their class ED. It's actually almost sad their yield isn't higher when the majority of their incoming students are required to go there. |
They brought it in first. The forum is public if you want to create new narratives. |
Nobody brought up abuse? "make your husband more interested in you" just implies the relationship is flaming out. Which isn't unreasonable to say because most people wouldn't want to be married to someone so angry and bitter. |
Davidson's yield is slightly higher than Williams and Amherst. Does that make Davidson better than Williams and Amherst? |
Who is "they"? It is unlikely to be a W&M or Richmond person. |
I can't imagine that this could happen at W&M. Those are really excellent opportunities for your kid! |
DP, but it should be acknowledged. They clearly attract students who want Davidson as a first choice. Same with Williams and Amherst. |
It was someone who suggested consideration of Wake or Davidson as well. Then someone quickly claimed that Davidson is a tier above W&M. That is what precipitated it. |
