This is a prime example of why Democrats lose. This ticket would get murdered. But you're so progressive you can't see it.

Exactly this. The Progressives are so shortsighted that they can't see how they undermine themselves at every turn. And Newsom is a disaster on any ticket unless/until he can clean up CA, which is a giant mess on most every level.

Get a centrist democrat with a progressive VP candidate. I fully believe we are headed in the direction of being far more progressive as we move forward, but Dems are going too fast and shoving so much down so many people's throats that they push back in ways that makes them willing to vote for a crazy person like Trump.

We need Kamala Harris at the top, though, because Biden has been losing Black and Hispanic voters. Also she's a woman. She would totally renergize the campaign.

I agree that we would need a centrist Dem for VP.

Kool aid isn't a good thing to drink. She would lose in a massive blowout comparable to Reagan in 1984.

Harris doesn't energize anybody but HBCU sorority alums.

Both polarizing figures.

No.

Buttigieg
Pro: great speaker and debater. Intelligent, practical, knowledgeable on domestic policies.
Con: white male with no particular support from Black and Hispanic communities.

Whitmer
Pro: woman, experience leading a State
Con: white woman, same as above

I can see a Kamala Harris / Gretchen Whitmer ticket.

The Gavin is too Californian, bless him.

Who cares if they are white. We need to win. Identity politics is clearly not working for us

Chuck Schumer is a snooze fest and adds nothing to the ticket. If you had to choose 1 of the 2 to be at the top, it would be Jeffries every time.

Newsom/Whitmer would work. Whitmer could pull a swing state and Newsom has the confidence to steam roll Trump in a debate. So he’s a looking bro, deal with it. He would go toe to toe with Trump.

Identity politics works every time sadly. Biden was not playing identity politics in his reelection campaign. He was trying to tout his record. People haven't heard him. The record is always boring, even if it's good.

So now we need a drastic change and fight fire with fire. Kamala would do a great job attacking Trump. She's a former prosecutor. This is what people want to see. Someone coherently saying out loud from a media-blitzed pulpit how Trump is incoherent and rambling. Obviously it needs to be said by someone who isn't worse than Trump at the rambling!

How do people think a Kamala Harris / Barack Obama ticket would do? That seems like a potentially clever solution to me.

Harris would be a no-brainer obvious better choice than Trump or Biden. This isn't rocket science. Her gender or race is irrelevant. Look for a fit and qualified in a candidate to support. The color of their skin and what's between their legs shouldn't be considerations in the 21st century. Get over it.

I respectfully disagree. Too many people don't like her. Too many people feel she would just be a front person for the existing group who is running Biden.

I believe Biden is losing Black and Hispanic voters due to his surprisingly progressive policies he has been putting forward. I can't speak for the Black community but in the Hispanic community it isn't the white male many have a problem with. It's his policies that are the problem.

This thread is delusional. Biden is not going to drop out. Nobody can make him drop out. Joe and Jill are united and they are going to stay in the WH as long as possible.

If Biden won’t step down, what’s the plan to make him step down?

So what is the identity politics play in PA, MI, WI and AZ?

You must already be into the wine. Barack Obama as VP? No way would he do that.

A centrist at the top of the ticket with Michelle as VP, maybe. Set her up for a run for POTUS after that.
