47 with a 9 yo. Feel exhausted

Have you considered it's not your age but our pace of life and the culture that is not family-friendly?

So many unkind people on here! I’m 47 with two kids about to head to college. I’m tired at the moment too! I work full-time in a stressful but gratifying job; I have aging parents, a dog, a husband, and two kids who all rely on me for emotional support—they’re all wonderful but it’s a lot. 40-something is when work, family and middle age just come together in a particularly exhausting way. I don’t think it is much more so for people who had their kids at 40 than those who had them, like me, at 29. Several of my closest friends have same-age kids and are in their 50s. They don’t seem worse off.

Friend of mine just announced her pregnancy. She'll be 50 when the (planned) baby is born. She has one already that was born when she was 46. I think she's nuts, frankly. (Not that I'd say that). I had my last at 38.

Seriously, how old is too old?
