Tired of "Dog Moms"

not sure why this post resurfaced, but am wondering if the OP is still single or if she found somebody as grumpy as she is

I once had a BF with a German shepherd and his life revolved around the dog. Everything we did had to be planned around the dogs schedule and it drove me crazy. One night at his place we were having sex and the dog jumped on the bed and my first thought was that the dog wanted to join in but thankfully I was wrong. That was the beginning of the end.

I’m a plant mother and becoming a grandma. I get to decide the names of my grandkids.

Dogs are not children. Having a dog does not make you a mother. Being obsessed with your fur baby is not giving maternal instincts, it's giving arrested development. I am not interested in women who make their dog the center of their universe.

I (M, 40) was dating a woman (35) who said that she and her German Shepherd are a "package deal" when we were getting serious and thinking about moving in together. I said she had to choose between me and the dog, and she chose the dog. Now she's late 30s and childless but with a giant, smelly canine.

Women, rethink your priorities if this sounds like you.

I am a dog owner and married mother. I *love* dogs and I agree the 'dog mom' thing is super sad. Posting thousands of photos of your dog, dog social media accounts, taking it everywhere you go including day trips and vacations, obsessively doting on it like it's a child... you're doing all of that because your body yearns for an actual baby!

I don't care how much you love your dog but I don't want to see pictures and spend the entire lunch conversation at work talking about your dog. I don't show pictures of my kids all the time because I know you don't care. I feel the same about your dog. Looks like....a dog.

Cat moms never left. I'll take a low maintenance lap cat over a dog 99 times out of 100.
