Let’s discuss the WH Nutcracker Christmas video

Oh, please.
Those who don't care for the video don't care WHO is in the dance scene. It is about taking a traditional Christmas story and making it "modern" that is unappealing to many. The left loves to try to "modernize" traditional stories and movies. And, they almost always fail.

THIS ^^. The PP clearly has a huge chip on his/her shoulder. We are allowed to like and dislike things without it being tied to one -ism or another. So ridiculous.

LMAO you idiots can't even make up your minds about what it is. Above you cluelessly whine about how nobody under the age of 85 likes tap dance and now you whine about how it's too modern for your liking 😆😆😆😆

This is why you people look completely ridiculous tripping over yourselves trying to criticize this video. Sorry, but nobody here takes you seriously. How about just shut up and go back to your knitting.

Wow, someone is seriously triggered! Do you always throw tantrums whenever someone disagrees with you or expresses an opinion you don't like? You must be fun to live with.

Look I don’t actually love this performance but the way the RWNJs are running with this is clearly racist. If it’s just personal preference then why is every single RWNJ upset by it? Oh because you “updated” things by having a few Black faces.

Good grief, Skippy. One person believes tap dance is no longer relevant. That person is wrong.
And, contrary to what you think.... this was indeed an effort to modernize a traditional story. And, IMO - it failed. It was weird and creepy.

No, good grief to YOU.

SO WHAT if it was "modernized." People have been "modernizing" stories for millennia. Maybe you didn't know that the whole Biblical "Great Flood / Noah's Ark" was a modernized rehash of part of the Gilgamesh epic, written far earlier? Which in turn was probably a rehash of something even older? And unlike the Bible it's not even as though this WH video is being touted as "this is the new Official Nutcracker." It's just yet another spin like the hundred other versions of The Nutcracker that have been done since 1892. Who cares.

And, the only thing I see here that's weird and creepy is your continued weird and creepy attempts at over-the-top failed critiques of a cute video.

DP. It might be time for you to exit the thread and seek therapy. Critique of a stupid video should not be sending anyone over the edge as it clearly is doing for you. Be well.

At first you think, well. They went cheap on the decorator and the lighting. Then figure appears with a rat head and a zoot suit, and its clear this is some kind of holiday themed take on horror. A man with a flower head. A deranged woman with a flat head and Cheshire cat smile. They arrange themselves unnaturally far apart for television, creating eerie negative space. It crosses your mind that this fever dream may end in murder.

It ends and you feel unsettled and vaguely disoriented. What was the message here? Was this directed by an American Horror Story intern? Why was there a rat headed man? Aren't flowers out of season? Can't the White House afford better lighting for their short films?

When can we go back to less stylized, artistic christmas videos from the political class? Something Hallmarky would be nice.

It was directed by someone who snatched the remaining coke at the White House. I agree, the overall feeling is unsettling.

+100
Like a fever nightmare. Very unpleasant to watch. Especially the over-the-top gaping mouths and expressions.

It's making my heart grow several sizes to see the right wing nuts so triggered by, checks notes, a dance.

OTC, the only people completely triggered are LWNJs who can't believe anyone would dare to say they didn't like something that came out of the White House. It was a silly dance, nothing more. But apparently, LWNJs consider it blasphemy to say as much. *shrug*

Why is this even a topic?

Yep. I'm remembering the pages upon pages of absolute outrage from the resident leftists who were appalled, I tell you!, at Melania Trump's red Christmas trees. Too funny.

Melania’s decor was a coded hood. You understood it to look at who welcome and who ain’t.

Case in point ^^. It's ok to be outraged about red Christmas trees, but NOT about a tap-dancing fever dream. Got it!

Our diversity is our strength.

Some old farts here wanted Fred and Ginger because…. They white.

No one under the age of 85 likes tap dancing. It doesn’t matter what color the tap dancing people are.

Tell me you’re white without telling me.

You know what means step?

Wut? Learn to write correctly.

What on earth are you talking about? Because many people didn't like an over-the-top "version" of The Nutcracker, it must be because there were some black dancers - not because it was just cheesy and corny? Do you even hear yourself? In the parlance of the left wing, I suggest you sit with yourself for a long while and do the hard work.

Shame they chose this considering the great deorations this year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-m_TUT7zoY&ab_channel=TheWhiteHouse The video isn't on the offcial site unlike the 2021. Some aspects remind me of Hunger Games or the musical Caberet. This production was done for a theatre not close ups so perhaps there should have been toning down on facial expression. I enjoyed the short video but didn't see the show- 70 minutes of limited tap genre is too much.

This Dorrance program has a short run at the Kennedy Center for maybe 3 shows in the small Eisenhower Theatre - seats about 1100 and the Opera House which had a weeks run of the normal Nutcracker has about 2200 seats. That sold out and the Kenedy Center added some extra seats in the rear. The Nutcracker Suite or, a rhythmaturgical evocation of the super-leviathonic enchantments of Duke and Billy’s supreme adaptation of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece that tells a tale of a misunderstood girl who kills a king and meets a queen and don’t forget oooo-gong-chi-gong-sh’-gon’make-it- daddy, and that it ain’t so bad after all

Considering that Jill is the tackiest First Lady, it is what it is. I am sure Hunter finds this dance amusing

The real conspiracy is that they never showed the dancers FEET. It's a tap dance video. People want to see the feet! What are they hiding? Cloven hooves?
