Vegetable oil is a poison?
|
| Have you all only given gifts your recipients loved at holidays and birthdays. We all do the best we can, accepting that sometimes our gift is imperfect, but people still like knowing that you tried. My vote: if you yourself are gluten free or kosher or vegetarian or hate pies, then donate one that meets your personal requirements and label it well. Odds are the right teacher with similar needs will be the one who gets it. |
Absolutely. It’s tremendously unhealthy as an industrial seed oil. |
| If store bought and there are a few to chose from, yes. If homemade - no. |

Great news! No poisonous vegetable oil in a simple pumpkin pie! Crisis averted!
1 frozen unbaked deep dish pie crust, 9-inch 1 can (15 ounces) pumpkin, or try our Homemade Pumpkin Puree 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk 2 eggs 1 tablespoon McCormick® Pumpkin Pie Spice 1 teaspoon McCormick® All Natural Pure Vanilla Extract |
Do you have a source? Olive oil is a vegetable oil that's generally considered healthy. https://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=olive+oil+health&hl=en&as_sdt=0&as_vis=1&oi=scholart |
Technically olives are fruit, but that’s not the point. Lol 😂 anyway, olives have the “good fat” so it’s quite a healthy all purpose oil. Refined vegetable oils on the other hand are not as clean. They have polyunsaturated fats that are super unstable and break down into considerably toxic compounds when heated. |
Smart! |
| Only if it's store bought. I don't want anything homemade - I don't know if your kitchen is clean (people let their pets on their counters, wash dishes by dipping them in dirty dishwasher and not rinsing, don't wash their hands before touching ingredients, etc.). |
I hate to break it to you, but we will always show appreciation for anything you do for us even if we don't actually appreciate it. |
Since when is vegetable oil a poison? Do you not eat anything at all? |
They are unhealthy oils essentially extracted using hexane. They are easily oxidized by storage and heat, promoting coronary artery disease. |
Gross. Homemade pie > gift card >> Giant pie. |

No, thank you. I don't eat baked goods from students or their families (or the PTO).
A gift card is best and most desired. Even $5 to Starbucks is appreciated! And also appreciated is a nice card, especially homemade by the student. I'd rather have a homemade card than mugs, candles, flowers, ornaments, knickknacks, etc. Every parent always thinks they've found the most unique teacher gift, but trust me, we've received them all. There are only so many mugs my cabinet can hold! |
+1 $5 gift cards, please. They cost less than ingredients for a pie! |
