Cancelling people for celebrating a terrorist attack is fascism and means Jews aren’t actually persecuted.

Got it.

Can't have it both ways.

I thought we were canceling people for their political affiliation. Is that still OK?

Everyone is going to get cancelled eventually. If you're not 100% lock-step with "the current thing" you are going to be cancelled. Enjoy it, because this is the world many on this thread cheered on.

If you are a legal employer, when you interview students from Berkeley, Harvard, NYU or any other law school this year, ask them what organizations they belong to. Ask if they support discriminatory bylaws or other acts and resolutions blaming Jews and Israelis for the Hamas massacre. If a student endorses hatred, it isn’t only your right but your duty not to hire him. Do you want your clients represented by someone who condones these monstrous crimes?

You guys are actual fascists. You can see that, right? It is crazy to think that in the year 2023 we have entire industries, media elites, CEOs and the rich and wealthy of DCUM trying to blackball students and activists who believe that it is bad to blow up 2 million Palestinians. Honestly, the thought police here is next level. You guys scare the bejesus out of me. So much for your mantra of Jews being the persecuted class. That's complete BS

Sorry, buddy. Businesses, law firms, and others are starting to wake up to the idea that having SJWs who condone terrorism and destruction might not make the best employees.

It’s about supporting Israel. That is the only thing that matters and will be the sole reason you are hired. Look at MSNBC if you are a muslim they will not hire you.
It is weird for business in the US to base their hiring practices on who supports a Jewish state.

100%. It’s support Israel or else. There is no freedom of thought on this. So fascists. This is where the “control the media “ narrative comes from. I mean look at Gigi Haddad. She posted a pretty neutral statement and the ISRAELI government is trying to cancel her. It is INSANE

If Huntsman's withrdrawal of his money is such a big nothing, then why did Penn have an emergency meeting of their board of trustees Friday night?

If you don't like the idea of the Hamas supporters getting blackballed by firms, are you also upset anytime a "Karen" from one of those videos loses her job because of a viral video? Do you also get upset when colleges rescind admission offers to students upon discovery of a racist video online?

It was actually a big deal. He’s Obama’s favorite Republican—meaning that he has tremendous moral authority. He rightly pointed to Penn’s rot.

Schools kind of brought this on themselves when they started releasing political statements mostly after the Trump election.

As in it's happening now or you foresee it happening in the future?

I mean in the future. UF and UMich already have a large Jewish student population, but I could see billionaires focusing on schools besides Harvard now, especially as long as Claudine Gay is president. Penn and Cornell are the two ivies with the most Jewish students and they did not take a stand immediately. For people like Wexman and Ackerman to say they’re not donating to Harvard anymore, that means they don’t care if their grandchildren attend. It would be like a major Sidwell donor making a stink- it’s a big deal. Wexman’s kids already graduated and know at least one Ackerman kid is a student.

American Universities have no obligation to a foreign nation and have the right to not get entangled in international conflicts. They have an obligation to their students to uphold the US Constitution and American values, chief of which is freedom of speech.

Who cares? There are millions of extremely bright young people vying to attend Harvard and hundreds of thousands willing to pay the piper. It is Ackerman and Wexman that need an association with Harvard's brand and influence.

Also, i would not worry about extremely bright and passionate Harvard students remaining jobless, they'll take their human capital somewhere else. The loss is on the employers.

They are more than welcome to hire some Liberty University employees.

Donors and employers have no obligation to donate or employ a university's graduates.

BYU is popular if you want a hard worker who can pass a background check

It’s death by a thousand paper cuts. This may not affect the current Wharton or Harvard grad but despite hyperbole regarding liberty grads, there are plenty of other excellent schools that did not provide platforms for terrorism.

If prestigious firms and donors withdraw their support, in a decade or so the school of choice may be university of Chicago or some similar school. You say it doesn’t happen but for example choice for international students globally used to be the UK schools. Even though they are still sought after when I was a student it became US schools. Prestige shifts and changes.

+1 million. I am finding this entire thing very oppressive, the moment you open your mouth to even present a reasonable argument, you are labeled anti semitic. It’s very frustrating and at complete odds with American values, Jewish community is drunk on their power and apparently we are all their slaves and should say exactly what they want us to say.

Well, I'm not Jewish and if you say "the Jews got what they deserved", I'm not hiring you.

Similarly, if you're saying "George Floyd got what he deserved", I'm not hiring you.

I'm fine with nuanced arguments ("Hamas attacks were despicable; Israeli response also despicable") but I'm not hiring a complete a**hole and hope that no one else does either.

Better learn to either be a human being or keep your mouth shut. I have no problem with that at all.

Not sure where you are getting that from, it's probably "official stance" because we are allies with Israel when it comes to military situation. But when it comes to the opinions of regular people and celebrities and various talking heads there is a lot of division. In fact, there seems to be more pro-Palestinian sentiment on X, for example, and probably other social media than it is pro-Israel. It's something bound to happen as innocent civilians die. Most talking heads try to be somewhat neutral or take a side and acknowledge there is a reason for the other side's opinion to exist. But some are swinging hard for one or the other and there is no nuance. I don't see anyone being cancelled.

Christian family here. We stopped donating to colleges years ago.
We are a family that historically donate to fund buildings on college campuses around the US.

Majority of us believe in the nuance of this situation but we are not allowed to open our mouths to even discuss the nuance. Of course, Hamas attacks were despicable and I support Israel’s right to defend itself from Hamas but the truth is far more nuanced and complicated but you already know that. Also, thanks for proving my point.
