UMD is much better than UVA for STEM That was a much better choice.

Yes, get in first then we can talk. Once in, what is the wash-out rate for CS students at public universities? It's sink or swim. At Private, attrition is less likely. |
Because they have grade inflation and parents can put much more pressure on faculty to raise grades. That is unlikely work at publics. This is why many white parents prefer 2nd rate privates. |
UVA is ranked higher for CS than Tech and has much higher admission standards but neither are all that great. The OPs kid has amazing stats so should be able to get into a lot of schools. If not they must've done an awful job on their essays. |
You can assume that if if makes you feel better, but CS is a tough admit. Many accomplished kids with good essays are getting rejected or WL. |
Clearly you don’t know what you are talking about, computer science very difficult admit. |
Similar stats for my magnet STEM kid. Impressive ECs. Asian-American, cis-gender, male, zero hooks. Rejected at MIT, CMU and UIUC. He applied to 9 schools in total. Got into 6. 3 were ranked above UMD in CS. His first preference was MIT. 2nd was UMD. Happy as a clam at UMD. Merit scholarship for full tuition, double major, wonderful social life, research and internship from freshman year. |
+1 MDCP is absolutely excellent place to receive vocational training as part of workforce development in PG County. |
Unfortunately DS was accepted into McIntire for that degree in Plantation Management. |
Is this a racist comment? |
aw.. I know you're so jealous. It's ok. UVA is a good school, too just not as much as UMD for cs/eng. https://nac.icpc.global/ |
Which is ironic given where UVA is. |
I believe that was a retort to PP who alluded to UMD as a vocational school. |
