I'm a DC resident, applied for my CCW, and I'm now carrying concealed

OP here. I really appreciate this question. I have thought about this a lot since deciding to carry. If it is my only option to protect myself or my family, yes. And still, I know my life would be changed forever. It's a terrible but important thought exercise I think anyone making the choice to carry should undertake with seriousness. I have decided I could live with myself and my actions under a narrow set of circumstances.

Is it just for someone stealing your wallet to die?

I wonder if a would be robber would consider the question from the other side? Is it worth a bullet for me to try to take a wallet?

What if OP was martial arts trained and when defending herself from a violent assault she delivered a blow that killed her opponent?

Would the DCUM crowd take issue with that outcome? Not everyone has the time, or resources for the years of training it would take to attain those skills and even if sufficiently skilled size and number of attackers may render training moot.

So concealed carry is a reasonable alternative.

Yes. If they stick a gun in my face to do so. What a moronic question.

Good luck. Look forward to seeing you on the news. Remember house prices are up so you will quickly be able to sell your house to cover your legal bills after the shooting.

Enough of this “no one deserves to die for sealing a wallet” bs. How ‘bout no one deserves to die for being the victim of a random senseless crime? How ‘bout that?

Unpopular opinion: some people are more trouble than they’re worth and the world IS better off without them.

NP

I don’t think that’s really an unpopular opinion, PP. Most normal, sane, well-adjusted people don’t sympathize with criminals terrorizing people minding their own business. Just know you’re not alone!

I actually don’t mind CCW, assuming it has decently strict licensing and regs surrounding it (safety course, registration, background checks, etc). The people that CCW tend to be more cautious rule followers with something to lose.

I really dislike open carry. My 4 year-old kid doesn’t need to see that crap in a grocery store or at the park. It’s not the same a cop who carries. And my kid will ask about it, because he’s a kid. Open carriers are forcing that discussion onto parents, which is just so selfish.

Omg please please please tell me you see the irony in this statement
