Anyone changing behavior due to the latest uptick in Covid?

Or is it because you’ve had it and it was NBD? Have you had it multiple times? Just curious where people fall - as I think it varies a lot.

In my case it’s because I never stopped wearing an N95 indoors. (I’m a different person from the other person who posted this today, FWIW.)

With the uptick in cases is there any talk about delaying school openings or going remote for a few weeks? It would be unfortunate to restart the epidemic right as it was dying down.

Masking indoors at public places because it isn’t a big deal and super simple way to avoid being sick.

That people so willingly put up with illness and are fine with spreading is unfortunate.

Seriously?!? The numbers have been much much higher before, and schools didn’t close or go remote (after the first year). I can’t believe people are still thinking this is a possibility.

That people want others to mask indefinitely is unfortunate.

Just for two weeks, right?

“So willingly put up with illness”

Yeah people get sick. It’s part of life. COVID isnt a big deal for immunized healthy adults.

I assume this is nothing new for you, you didn’t put up with illness your entire adult life and would mask all time after your flu shot too, right? WE CANT PUT UP WITH ILLNESS CAN WE!?!?!?

I’m glad you guys moved out of the DC area too! Phew. Maybe you should also find a different anonymous forum to visit.

Why? This forum is so entertaining! COVID is still low, and the DCUM crowd rushes to don N95 masks and engage in self-imposed lockdowns just to rub their moral superiority in everyone’s face.

Interesting that's your impression. Mine is that the "DCUM crowd" mostly says covid is no big deal and everybody needs to get over it. Only a few say they're masking and testing.

In my case it’s because my personal risk balance is living a normal life is more beneficial than the risk of getting Covid. Now that we have vaccines, Covid is not that scary. I have no issue with folks who continue to wear masks. I realize they have a different perspective and/or risk tolerance. Now that n95 are available, people who are high risk can protect themselves. If someone asked me to mask (friend, coworker, doctors office) I will, but they need to warn me beforehand or provide a mask because I no longer carry masks around.

This is exactly how I feel.

Yes! We are masking and wearing gloves - everywhere! We cancelled our Labor Day vacation to Europe - it was non refundable but SAFETY FIRST, amirite?

We sprayed our groceries with Lysol after the teen delivery driver risked her life by going into the belly of the beast (grocery store) to fetch us our groceries. We let them sit in the garage for 48 hours before bringing them into the house.

If we need to go in public, we carry a measuring tape to make sure we are 6 ft apart from others.

Oh we test hourly for Covid - environment be dammed - you can never be too safe!

I mean, I live in Minneapolis now- very liberal. You wouldn’t know it was a thing here either. this only exists in DCUM land

Please be kidding.

+1. If schools start threatening this en masse again there are going to be riots.

Cope.

No. If schools close again I’ll be leading the riot. Kids are just not affected like adults. There’s absolutely no reason to damage their education like that

It’s been a lot higher than this before and the schools didn’t close. They’re not going to close again. They learned their lesson.

They aren’t closing because there are vaccines now. Big difference than when thousands were dying every day.

Omicron is milder than original strains, targeting the upper respiratory tract more than the lungs when compared to earlier variants. There are much fewer cases of serious illness now whether vaccinated or unvaccinated.

Mine went for the lungs. And head. I had hardly any WBC because of chemo so I should consider myself lucky. My sister got it recently and it was like a mild cold. She thinks it was the woman hacking next to her on a plane that gave it to her.
