I’m not sure what point you think you’re making here? Even for seniors Medicare isn’t universal. If you or a spouse (meeting certain criteria) don’t have adequate work credits, you don’t qualify. Medicare and Social Security were deliberately crafted to exclude the types of jobs then typically held by POC. And healthcare for seniors is great — for those who make it that far.

Medicare A is universal. You pay for Medicare B. Medicare A covers inpatient hospitalization. Does not cover ER.

If people without a qualifying work history can get Medicare A, that’s good to know. Inpatient hospitalization alone — without ER or any preventative services — is not what most of us view as “universal health care”.

I'm PP who said it was universal. But, that was incorrect. You do need to have contributed. Some people on pensions have a work history but no Medicare.

Agree. Every Democrat and Progressive Independent that I know would love for her to resign, and think that she should have done so long ago. BUT, as the PP has said, we’re even more appalled at the way the Republicans would respond to her resignation.

Sorry to burst ya'lls bubble - but Manchin hates McConnell almost as much as you guys do. So when Mitch is out, that's one less thing standing between Manchin and caucusing with the Republicans. He actually is good friends with John Thune, who will likely be the next Senate GOP leader.
