Bottom line who do you see being sworn in as president in 2024?

I was hoping for either Destantis (looks unlikely now) or Tim Scott (maybe VP) to whoever gets it?

It's going to be another poop show between Trump & Biden. Nobody wins. American public loses big time.

Biden wins that and wins it big. Dismissing them both in one snarky brush off is ignorant. They are quite different and Biden will beat trump good again.

It is amazing that the GOP will nominate trump again. He is such a weak, damaged candidate. More so than the last time around when he got beat. What are they thinking?

Americans have been doing pretty darn good under Biden. He successfully landed the COVID plane. Show me a non US country with lower inflation & better economy? And now it’s clear the “inevitable recession” isn’t happening.

His border policy is working, violent crime is down (still too high in DC), low unemployment, high wages…

Joe Biden has been one of the best Presidents in US history and will be for 5.5 more years. After that we can discuss which one of the MANY excellent people on the bench will take over. I’m a huge fan of Gov. Whitmer but for now, I’m ridin with Biden!

And the right wing nuts say Trump was one of the "best Presidents in US history". There is a rising number of normal Americans that are seeing through the R and D party chaos and divisiveness.

PP here. Ok, forget what I think, look at FACTS.
Inflation is trending down
Recession not coming
Unemployment is up
Long infrastructure finally happened?

Vs.
tax cuts for wealthy
Restrictions on bodily autonomy
No incredible replacement for Obamacare!

Yeah, real divisiveness on BOTH sides. You are either a troll or white male.

My vote will be with Biden, I'm actually happy with the soft landing the economy is doing compared to other countries and relatively speaking. I fear a Republican will send inflation sky high with tax cuts like throwing gas on a flame (and you KNOW that they will try for tax cuts if elected). That and concern w/ what they will do with abortion law as a woman, healthcare worker, mother of a girl.

I do look forward to 4-years from now when we might actually have fresh faces and perhaps less polarizing candidates.

How is Biden polarizing? What specifically has he done besides be a fairly middle-of-the-road Democrat who wants to reach across the aisle?

My gawd. Clueless.

You are the clueless one! Biden has repeatedly extended his hand in the spirit of cooperation, and the Rethuglicans do nothing but slap it away

I don’t think our political commentary focuses enough on just how unpopular the GOP is now, how degraded their brand is. The majority of Americans don’t want what they are selling and Biden’s agenda has been very good for America.

You can snark all you want but people are feeling the optimism with economy and in the next year the Infrastructure projects will bring more and higher paying jobs (if GOP don’t cut off their noses to spite their faces and kill those projects because you know, windmills cause cancer…).

It’s strange how the GOP just can’t let crazy go. If they came back to reality they might have a chance to win back Presidency and keep the House. But they’re all in on things most Americas DGAF about or worse, are appalled by.

Polling doesn't bear this out. What polling does show is a very evenly divided country with minor leads either direction. Your comment only illustrates how much D partisans hate R and vice versa that they can't see outside their narrow bubbles.

Scott doesn’t have a nuclear family

This isn’t Europe

That was my thought exactly. I can't see the "family values" party electing an unmarried man. If he were a Dem, they'd suggest he was gay. It will be quite the conundrum for them if Scott gains traction. Plus Americans have a great interest in First Ladies (and, apparently, the quality of First Couple marriages, if the recent thread on presidential marriages is an indicator), unlike in many other countries.

For a state as small and conservative as South Carolina, it’s very odd both of their senators are gay

They aren't.
Being unmarried does not make one gay.

Very true. But many people in the DC area who do know what makes one gay know Graham very well. Make that: VERY well.
Pre-Trump, Graham might have been a viable candidate. At this point it’s not likely. So I guess I hope he gets the nomination.
It will be interesting to see who supports Scott.

DP: In the end, though, the critical issue is not who responds to polls / who gets polled in the first place / how the polling questions are worded — but who actually votes. Those cohorts are rarely if ever the same.

Look at the midterms. Those are actual election results. Those did not look very good for the GOP.
