McLean HS 2023 Outcomes

Why would they go OOS to pay near exclusive private tuition and fees to be second class students at UCLA and Berkeley?

As noted earlier, there are area kids, including kids in the Class of 2023 at McLean, going to UCLA and Berkeley. Why do you think paying OOS tuition would make them "second class citizens" at those schools? There may be plenty of reasons why kids would prefer attending school in California.

I don't know how to break this to you, so I'll just leave this right here:

https://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/virginia/districts/fairfax-county-public-schools-109481

https://www.fcps.edu/news/fcps-high-schools-ranked-among-best-virginia-and-nation-us-news-and-world-report

US News is certainly one source of information.

It appears to be the source that FCPS has cited, so yes.

It was a source that FCPS cited at a time when it thought it was in its interests to do so. It doesn't mean FCPS or anyone else views it as definitive, as opposed to informative.

DP. What a bizarre response. Every source I’ve seen always lists TJ as #1 and Langley as #2. And I have kids at neither school. Just accept reality, and stop taking it so personally. You sound foolish.

There are that many Yale legacies at McLean?

Aren’t most Yale alums in this area in Maryland or dc and pretty rare in VA?

22101 is a mecca for Yale alumnae. Truth.

I suggest you do the same. Niche is based on opinions - hardly scientific. And the other links you provided say nothing about the schools as a whole. Again, no dog in this fight, but you’re looking incredibly insecure here. And USNews is the most widely cited ranking.

People without a dog in the fight don't go around looking for web links they can eagerly post.

Keep in mind the web links only starting showing up because some Langley poster (you?) got bent out of shape when someone expressed the opinion that McLean was "arguably" the best FCPS high school in FCPS other than TJ. Which it is by some measures, and not by others.

That was clearly only that poster's opinion, but y'all were still predictably butt-hurt.

Again - I'm the PP and don't have a child at any of the schools mentioned. But what caught my attention was the clueless statement, bolded. If the poster had said it's "one of the top FCPS schools," then no problem. But I actually laughed at the arrogance of that claim, especially as someone who has seen many rankings of FCPS schools over the years. I mean, at least be factual.

Because that is the way Berkeley and UCLA treat undergraduates.

You have posted this repeatedly and you just look ridiculously insecure. Niche is a crowdsourced website that ranks using personal opinions! And the other two say nothing about what the top schools are - just what you apparently extrapolate from them as proof of… something?

You must be the McLean mom who constantly posts braggy posts about the school. Hint: it’s very transparent and embarrassing for you. DCUM consistently uses USNWR as the ranking standard.
