+1 it seems like h&m choice to let the "chase" continue for that long made it very dangerous for pedestrians and others who did not have their level of protection.

exactly what I was thinking. Especially if, as a Pp claims, the paps were from an agency that was hired by Harry and Meghan themselves

You can't be hounded by the paps unless you have paps following you.

I could not conceive any circumstance under which Harry would allow this to happen. This is PTSD/triggering stuff for him.

Personally I don't care for the pair, but this assertion is just absurd. The more likely scenario is that they were followed and exaggerated what happened. But it's hard for me to believe they're go so far as to hire someone to do it.

They love it.

Again, I can imagine some rolling NYC paparazzi following them for pictures I can also Harey and Meghan grossly exaggerating the story. I read that Harry has video of the night so I guess we'll see it, probably conveniently it'll appear as evidence in their security lawsuit.

They and other UK tabloids probably summoned those pics!

Daily Mail posted, and then removed the pictures from the "chase"."

Hope they remember to buckle up every time they get into a car.

Guess they didn't want to pay for the rights to the pic?

Duh, they have already paid for the pics. They probably didn't want to be publicly associated with criminal activities. There are reports that at lease one police offer was struck by a paparazzi car.

You are pretty sure they are lying and...
Pretty sure they paid paparazzi to do this.
Questioning the scene, the time, the actions.
Accusing them of attention getting.
Blaming one or the other for extending a narrative.

NYPD is likely to downplay anything that makes them look bad, so remember that.
Looks like most people already have a narrative about them that they need to fulfill, regardless of what went on. So stupud, this binary team thing people choose to engage in. Everyone keeps saying they are inconsequential, yet pop right up everywhere to keep saying it.

Right.

They are inconsequential, when you get down to it. Their purpose is no more than to provide amusement for us. For that is what they have become, modern day jesters.

The reason why some of us like to read about H&M is because it's like watching a soap opera. The range of emotions, behaviors, hypocrisies, ironies and cluelessness on display, all set against a backdrop of wealth and privilege, is a real life reality show. I do no more than reading a few headlines every now and then and posting a few comments on here and I do it because it's fun to roll my eyes as I watch people act out their vanities like a modern day Greek drama, although the hidden tragedy is that the acting is sincere, at least on Harry's part.

Doesn't look like that to me. It looks like they are doing their stuff, which includes making money now, and being interviewed by outlets ob their stuff, like any other high profile person. The fact you, and people like you, keep calling attention to it, is far more interesting. And proves his assertion. Why bother commenting. They aren't court jesters any more than Meryl Streep is. Actors are here to entertain us. Influencers are, singers are. They decided to take a path away from living a royal life, which is somehow frowned upon by people who think NOT riding in gold carriage, wearing medals and swords and crowns is actually MORE attention seeking (?) Come on. They are being recognized for their work, and if people want to read their books, listen to their podcast or whatever, it's no different than anyone doing it. You can't have it both ways. I just saw maybe 20 + clips, without even trying to see them, of Kate Middleton, wearing a hugely expensive and massive royal blue gown sitting next to a grand piano in a palace gold and velvet encrusted room playing only 3 bars of a piano selection in the Eurovision song contest, and she was hailed as "so talented, graceful, elegant."
Not attention seeking at all.

Lol . You've chosen a team to root for, that's all, and it's really stupid.

DP. Meghan wore a yellow dress. And got an award for something. Then she was in a catastrophic car chase through Manhattan for 2 hours.

Is that doing stuff? Or is that attention seeking? What did she do?

I know what Kate was doing, she was being royalty. That's her job. What is Meghan doing? Raising two kids? Getting awards for ... things?

I agree. If they ever finish their "Worldwide Privacy Tour" and stop announcing their every step, then no one would bother them!

There were no accidents or injuries during this 2 hour debacle, so “near catastrophic” is a bit of a stretch.

Also, why let it go on for 2 hours? Seems the driver should have pulled over. This wasn’t a mob trying to kill them. It’s horribly invasive, but surely avoiding being photographed after appearing at a much-publicized public event isn’t worth anyone’s life. So stop the car. Surely someone had a phone and could call police?

+1 Exactly my thoughts when reading. Don't want to compromise your friend's house, then stay at a hotel. Pull over. Anything is better than endangering people's lives.

Why didn't they do what anyone with a functioning brain would have done and that's find the nearest police station and pull in there for immediate protection!

Didn’t they have a security escort?

They did that, at some point. It's not really clear how long the "2 hours" actually was. They're trying to walk that one back, since it didn't have the desired impact.
