GMU and JMU are not on the same tier as UVA, WM and VT STEM |
I'd love to hear numbers 15-20. |
How has no one mentioned New York State for the SUNY/CUNY systems? FIT as an instate student is a tremendous bargain for anyone going into fashion.
In addition to Michigan, I would consider Iowa. Literally all hs graduates in Iowa are automatically admitted to all three state universities, and get increasing merit depending on HS GPA and test scores. Like a 3.5 GPA gets two years free tuition at U Iowa. I also agree DC tag is such a great benefit and frankly DC residency itself is a unique hook for college admissions. |
Very firm rules for in state status https://ro.umich.edu/tuition-residency/residency |
+1 for SUNY/CUNY -- I think because it's a great system rather than a singular great school they get overlooked. But really great options for NY students. |

Washington state |
Rhode Island.
Just kidding |
CT residents can go to NY schools in-state tuition |
This is a nother good one--U Washington, but also: Western Washington = JMU Central Washington = Radford Washington State = Virginia Tech Evergreen State = Evergreen State |
Source? Maybe some kind of tuition exchange thing in useless majors, but even that I doubt. |
+1, can't believe that this hasn't been mentioned until now. UW grads pretty much have a monopoly on the PNW job market because east coast transplants don't go to WA (they go to CA) and UW is the only good school in the PNW. Even the satellite Bothell and Tacoma campuses perform pretty exceptionally on post-grad salaries according to Scorecard, not terribly difficult to get into either |
Exactly, people do not realize it is insanely cheap for good in state students. Sure some can’t get into UGA, GT, UF or FSU but other good options and for those that do it is so cheap and even free for mainly. |
This is the answer |
