I use OB tampons so they only have a bit of plastic around them, not enough to wrap the old one in. I use TP.

Same, love OB. If I travel, I do take a few extra biodegradable dog poop bags with me.

Why are you wrapping your tampon? You can just flush it.

Either way this thread is bizarre and I agree with the poster who said most aren’t wearing disposable pads anymore.

No, you most definitely cannot flush tampons, ever. Are you dumb?

NP here. Yes, you can.

Those five years on septic were longest of my life.

As long as the toilet is strong you can flush everything, tampon, wrapper, and plastic applicator. There’s literally no reason to throw it in the trash unless the toilet is weak or you’re on septic. I’ve been doing it for 15 years, and taught my daughter to do the same.

Not every sewer line can survive plastics being flushed down it. You are incredibly fortunate. Quit while you're ahead.

And btw, your plastic chunks could cause a neighbors sewer line to back up, so be a better neighbor and stop flushing garbage down the toilet.

No, you cannot flus tampons down the toilet. Even the box of tampons tells you that. Are you illiterate?

This is why we use reusable pads and period underwear. My teen wears a pad with her period underwear on heavy days, then can just do the underwear on lighter days. She also increases her water so she's using the bathroom more often. She has a small waterproof wet bag if she takes the pad off at school. We wash all period related clothing each day so it's not sitting around. Zero issues. Zero leaks. Zero smells. Far more comfortable.

No, this causes a problem with sewer lines and at the water treatment facility. Sewage lines are designed for sewage, not garbage. It’s people like you that create huge problems downstream.

I really need to know

To use some discretion. No one wants to see a blood soaked tampon laying on top of the garbage. Just wrap it in tp and toss in garbage.

Duh, But you wrap it in the paper the new one comes in - why waste the TP?
I only need TP for the last one of the cycle.

Put it back in the wrapper it came from and throw it in the trash why waste TP?
Anonymous
Wrap it in TP and DDs both know to change the bathroom trash every 3 days or so when on their periods.

I don't use tampons but I thought you could flush the cardboard applicator ones both the cotton AND the applicator. Am I wrong?

Yes you are very wrong. I am actually dumbfounded people think flushing tampons is fine and teach their daughters to do this.
