| I think it’s eggplant, and I really like the suit. Agree that it could have done with earrings and a ponytail. Still, a nice look. |
Princess Michael of Kent (who seems like a nasty piece of work but not necessarily a liar) brought it up really nonchalantly in an interview a few years ago but that's been scrubbed. Like, "Will likes his women to be like his mother. Tall and anorexic without much between the ears." |
In what way? The problem is that you think her goal in the US is to land in fashion magazines and garner more American fans, or to compete with MM. Kate doesn't care about any of that and neither does the BRF. Her goal is to support her husband as future monarch, maintain a positive relationship with a foreign power that is also a close ally, and to demonstrate the BRF's interest in charitable good works. That's it. None of that requires a stylish wardrobe. It requires her to look appropriate, say the right things, and avoid any scandal or controversy. Thus: tailored suits in muted colors, conservative dresses, non-flashy accessories, impeccably styled hair and makeup that are consistent with the way people expect her to look (nothing exciting, no new directions, no suprises). Their last foreign trip was pretty terrible and garnered a ton of bad press at a time when the BRF was already fielding accusations of racism. And this trip comes during a scandal involving racist behavior from one of QEII's old ladies in waiting, as well as potential accusations of racist behavior coming out of Harry's book or the new Netflix documentary. The calculation here is: DO NOT MAKE WAVES. That's what she's doing. |
| Looks nice. She doesn't typically do a high ponytail, does she? |
Sure you did, honey; sure you did. |
I like Kate well enough, but am always puzzled by people who are utterly sycophantic about her (or any celebrity). “She is stronger in one pinky than anyone can imagine?” What would lead someone to believe this? Why would anyone post that? What do they get out of it? |
I really think she looked better with a bit more weight on her. It’s easy to start looking gaunt at this weight, which is aging. |
Fine, but why the call for Hillary's "style"? Pls don't say they just decided two days ago that she should adopt this look to be more queen-in-waiting look. The 100 year old monarch figured out how to do it. Kate has much much much more to work with and should dress better than Hillary and Liz. |
| I think it’s a power play. If you can look amazing in a fitted pantsuit with a floppy bow blouse in clashing colors and no skin showing…it exudes confidence. |
We all looked better at 20. |
She doesn't need to be this conservative. She is the Princess of Wales. Diana had a lot of striking looks as Princess of Wales. Her job includes getting people excited about Britain, and her clothing (because she speaks so little) is her primary way of doing that. These clothes aren't doing the job. |
| She looks like an office worker, not royalty. Nothing special about that outfit. Pretty sure you could find someone dressed better in a few offices on K St! |
Kate is not now and will never be the monarch. She is the Princess of Wales and will be the Queen Consort. Different role altogether. |
Within the limits of what you describe, she could 100% look sharper than she did yesterday. And you're not being truthful when you deny that beauty and style are absolutely a part of the package for soft power. I mean people didn't revere Jackie Kennedy for her ideas you know. |
No. No, it isn't. https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/bf217d537cc1c8074ec195ce07fb74de3c1593caa6033b7c3be4645ccc5b01de |
