State schools with great merit aid for 4.0 student?

Kalamazoo and Wooster give excellent merit aid to strong students. Can make total costs comparable to in-state tuition in Virginia.


Juniata, Allegheny, Washington & Jefferson, Denison, Gettysburg, Dickinson, Chatham University, Centre College, Wheaton MA, etc.


DS got merit from these to make the cost about $30k per year. If you are open to small and rural $30k is not hard to find. She got similar net price at SMCM and Washington College.

OP here. Appreciate everyone's feedback. Wanted to post now that my daughter has received her state school merit aid offers, in case anyone is wondering for comparison:

Penn State: 5k
U of Arizona: 32k
UMass Amherst : 12k
UConn: 23k
UW: 4k
