SCANDAL: Hillsdale College President says URM become teachers because they can’t hack anything else

He also said that public school teachers are trained in “the dumbest part of the dumbest colleges”. Fact check: 75% of teachers are white, and almost 75% are women. But let’s not let facts get in the way of stunningly racist, classist and sexist comments, when the National Review is cheering him on.

Do you agree with him? Are out public school teachers low performing dimwits who can’t hack it doing anything else? Would you send a kid to Hillsdale knowing this is their attitude towards URM (and white women, who are the vast majority of teachers?) Would you hire a teacher trained at Hillsdale, knowing this is their attitude towards education managers?

I vote that Larry Arnn be assigned a group of 1st graders from a Title 1 school, told to teach them for a year via DL, and be blamed if they don’t make academic and SEL and progress. What a tool.

Well, I mean, teachers colleges used to be a separate thing entirely. I am not sure he’s wrong.

Those who can’t do, teach and all that

He isn't wrong that URM teach because they can't do anything else?

That is an unfathomable racist belief, partiicularly in 2022.

Sad for you, PP.

Lots of non URMs major in education as well, and psychology and communications, mainly because all those majors can be fairly easy and they can party more or can do well in the classes.

URM + ALDC

We need fair competition in this country.

Some of us choose helping professions because we feel called to them. How nice to be see some say it’s because we wanted easy college majors that let us party.

There were a handful of URM teachers in the 10k student school district I grew up. My university’s education major was filled with white women, too.

I am sure that all the posters disparaging teachers actually home school their children. After all, they don’t want their little darlings being taught by dumb teachers.

The world needs teachers. What a stupid thing to say.

Except that isn't what he said. Don't let inconvenient things like facts get in the way of your accusation, though.
