| Coffee grounds and orange oil are deterrents....when I had a stray cat pooping in my garden, I started sprinkling them on my fence and garden and it stopped. |
This is total BS. Did you read your own article? The vast majority of bird deaths are from feral, not owner-cats:
Maybe in some indirect way, you can blame America's obsession with pets as causing the feral cat population, which in turn cause bird depopulation. But it's not your annoying neighbor's Persian that's the problem! |
Honey pie. Rats are rodents. Either you were intentionally misleading people, or you’re ignorant. Also, your ad hominems and insults are childish and don’t speak well of cat ladies. You’d have more credibility if you stuck with facts (oops, so far you don’t have any facts) and didn’t pack insults into your every post—that is, if you want to avoid the moniker “crazy cat lady.” |
You’re delusional. This recent study found that HOUSECATS kill an average of 2.1 animals a week. That’s 109 animals a year killed by your precious Fluffy. Not all of these are birds, but assuming Fluffy lives 15 years (shorter than the 19 or 20 years my indoor cats have all lived, but then again you can’t be bothered to take care of Fluffy so his life will be shorter), that’s over 212 birds. Multiply that by millions of outdoor housecats, and yeah, Fluffy is most definitely part of the problem. https://abcbirds.org/article/kittycam-reveals-high-levels-of-wildlife-being-killed-by-outdoor-cats/ Stop pretending your precious Fluffy isn’t part of the problem. Fluffy is an ecological disaster. Not to mention your reprehensible morals, when you send Fluffy out to poop (illegally) in your neighbor’s garden and you somehow rationalize over 1,000 native animal deaths for your non-native Fluffy’s “fun.” Buy Fluffy some toys and get down on the rug and play with him. That’s what I do with my cat. You don’t deserve to have a pet. |
PP said that cats were Rodents. I said they are not they are Carnivora. And to contrast the difference between the two Orders (you do know about Kingdom, Phylum etc right?) I said that cats "famously hunt and eat rodents." I never said control populations. That was something you came up with b.c you have an axe to grind. And in this thread the most deranged ad hominem has come from PP who is desperate to kill cats. "Cats are rodents and your apartment is gross and stinks. You have disgusting hair all over your clothes when you go to work. Nobody likes you" and that I should take the cat photos down or I won't get a promotion. And the Crazy Cat Lady epithet which is sexist. |
| OP it’s probably foxes and raccoons. They are everywhere even in highly populated places like Tyson’s corner. Near the metro. |
| It is interesting how many people think op should just deal with this. I like cats, but everyone should have the ability to enjoy their own space without interference from neighbor pets. Keep your pets to yourself you weirdos! |
Wow, just wow. Dogs don't use the bathroom INSIDE the house, STEP in it and THEN WALK ALL OVER COUNTERS AND TABLES. You can't understand the difference? Wow. |
Something tells me you're a "shoes on" household. |
And this is different, how, from “I’m going to open my door so Fluffy can make my neighbors’ yards filthy and kill small mammals and birds whose lives I think are worthless”? |
+1. Or OP should spend lots of her money on video cams and sprinklers and tiger urine (gross) to deal with her neighbor’s cat’s poop. The entitlement is real. |
|
I’m not convinced what you are seeing as cat poop actually is, as opposed to Fox, raccoon, deer, etc.
But speaking as someone who doesn’t like cats as I’m allergic, I don’t mind neighbors cats using our yard because that helps with rodents. |
How do you feel about cat poop that can carry toxoplasma, which has been linked to schizophrenia? https://www.science.org/content/article/reality-check-can-cat-poop-cause-mental-illness |
This. We don't want your cats in our yard. We didn't move to the burbs to deal with your cats. We have a motion activated sprinkler and if that doesn't workto keep them mostly out, we trap and take to the county. |
+3. Play with your cats, get a cat leash or catio, or don’t get a pet because you aren’t a responsible pet owner. |
