With one kid in Boston and another in a more rural university town, I would say, be careful what you wish for. The nightlight at Boston colleges is all clubbing. My other kid saw it the way I do: you have your whole life to live in a city, while those 4 years in college go quickly and is the only time to be immersed in that quintessential college environment. Having grown up in a pretty urban part of DC (I think most on here are probably from the suburbs), my one kid was ready for a litle break from it. Absolutely loving her time at one of the aforementioned colleges. I don't understand why people come on here just to bash others' decisions. |
Doesn't take that long frankly. 12/13 kids. With the directory, less than 10-15 mins of Linkedin research. And clarifies the picture re legacies completely. Not sure why this is somehow not a cool thing to do. The placement outcomes are hugely misleading as to actual chances for an unhooked kid. Now, we know. |
No hon normal people do not spend their time doing this. OP Please get psychiatric help asap. I am confident you are a troll and not an NCS parent but a very jealous loon that also posted the “STA college is dismal” post. A quick ip check would determine whether you are the op of both. Troll poster. |
Op is the Same troll poster yes read the thread about “unhooked big 3 kid go to college” it is the same op posing as an NCS parent and I don’t think it is an NCS parent.” Come on people don’t fall for than nut case troll. |
Same op posing as NCS parent. I call total troll post. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1055103.page |
Perhaps you are a legacy parent whose kid got in to a top school that basis? Fear of exposure, hon? Don’t worry. Everyone in the school knows all this anyway. |
Nope! I can tell you though if they did get into my school as a legacy I would be proud and never be ashamed of that connection. I would think it’s great that my child was going to the same school I attended. Please get help. I think you may be a disgruntled parent or student from another school. Something is off with your posts. |
Op has posted three threads on this topic she/he is a troll |
Yup same op - suspect they are a troll and not a parent |
I am not sure why, but I think that compared to some of the other area privates, fewer NCS girls apply to SLACs, top and otherwise. I am sure some do, but we asked this question of college guidance once, and not that many apply ED, or even in RD. I think that given the size of the school, a lot of girls end up looking for something larger for college. |
I would guess that this poster is real and has kids at both schools. It's like you all don't actually have kids in private schools around here. There are many many parents at NCS, StA, all of them, just like this. Rotten. |
|
Most NCS/STA parents are fine. But there are enough like OP, who probably should think about drawing some boundaries, and other PPs here, who deny there is ever anything or anyone on the close that is not exceptionally wonderful, that I am pretty sure most of you are parents there. Sadly.
- STA/NCS parent |
This is surprising to me. I know of a NCS girl going to Williams. |
|
I am sure there are some girls who attend these schools, but if you look on SCOIR for many of the SLACs, including Williams, there are not enough applicants to even create a scattergram. And I know this year there are girls going to Pomona and Colby and probably some other SLACs, but generally speaking the SLACs do not seem as popular with NCS girls as they are with some other schools. If they aren’t applying, they aren’t getting in. |
