I also found that list interesting - students seeming to select Tulane, BU, BC over other schools they could probably get into that were trendy like Bates, Hamilton, etc.
Bated and Hamilton are in very frigid cold areas and Boston is a fun college town.
+2 My kids would never want to be in a remote town for 4 years. Boston or New Orleans are both dynamic, busy cities.
With one kid in Boston and another in a more rural university town, I would say, be careful what you wish for. The nightlight at Boston colleges is all clubbing. My other kid saw it the way I do: you have your whole life to live in a city, while those 4 years in college go quickly and is the only time to be immersed in that quintessential college environment. Having grown up in a pretty urban part of DC (I think most on here are probably from the suburbs), my one kid was ready for a litle break from it. Absolutely loving her time at one of the aforementioned colleges. I don't understand why people come on here just to bash others' decisions.
