Hey everyone, PP's DH has spoken - therefore the matter is closed. Everyone can go home now.

If you only put one bag up there, I agree. However, if -- like most men flying alone -- you have filled the overhead with a wheelie bag placed sideways inside of wheels out plus an overstuffed computer bag, upon which you have carefully spread your suit jacket -- then sorry, computer bag is going under your feet and that jacket is getting smashed behind my filthy wheelie. Welcome to the friendly skies! |
| I think it is because they getting on flights that do not have assigned seating. I always board last because I hate to be inside the plane for longer than it is necessary, but, I also fly only on flights with assigned seating. This way my seat is always reserved for me. |
Because there is X available overhead space on an airplane, and despite what Mr. Authoritarian claims, none of it is allocated to specific passengers (lets assume we're talking about all coach seats here). Some bags, like your purse, will fit in overhead space and space under the seat (that *is* allocated only to you). Other bags, like the wheelie, will only fit in overhead space. So smaller bags will go where they can fir to make room for larger bags. I would have thought this is obvious, but apparently some people need it spoon-fed for them. |
