Mr. Authoritative Flyer is an authoritarian flyer. Other people can reminisce about lightly fried tuna, but damn, Mr. Authoritative Flyer is a gem. |
Add him to the ranks of Executives and burgundy washcloths and bobcat lady. |
| My husband does this and it makes me crazy. I heard the term “gate lice” to describe it and it cracks me up. He’s always in the first boarding group too. I just let him line up and board early. I buy magazines and snacks and board when I feel like it. I swear he’s almost had an aneurysm over it a couple times, but we’ve been traveling together for 30 years and I’m just done with craziness. |

Our last 2 flights they had the some bins closed in hopes to save some people later boarding a place for their bags. I HATE the jerks who board early and don't put their bags above their seats. Seriously buddy, just put your bag by you. Or gate check it and it'll be up before you're off the plane if you're in the back.
We do stand before boarding, but because we'll be sitting for a while and I have restless leg syndrome. |
Yes the gate lice are very annoying when you are up, ready for your group to board, and not crowding/blocking the gate yourself. Stand up as long as you want, I don't care. Just don't block the path to the gate. |
| Lol, gate lice. |
That’s what I do. But I stand off to the side, not by the ropes. |
| Glad that I could share the “gate lice” term with my fellow travelers! |
| Post COVID I oddly think of the air on the plane as cleaner than at the airport. So, I’m not trying to sit around in that COVID air longer than I have to |
A friend of mine missed his flight because of a poorly timed potty break. He’s never been able to live it down. |

| I used to not do it. But as a fat, middle-aged woman who frequently flies first class with a child, I found I was always crowded out to the end of the line by male business travelers making us the last of our group to board, thus leaving us no overhead space. Now I line up early. |
| We usually buy priority seats/boarding and tend to choose seats in the first few rows. I like to board early so I can make sure my bags can go above my row and because we like to get our toddler settled early in her seat. There is nothing worse than running late and having nowhere to put your bags and when the plane lands and you are in row 2 you have to sit and wait until everybody gets off in order to walk back and retrieve your bags that have wound up in row 32. |
Anything is possible when you lie. |
| Airlines have it all wrong. They should allow people to check two bags for free and charge $20 for overhead space. Only carryons that can fit under the seat should be free. |
