I actually drove by the campus a couple weeks ago when I was in the area. It's pretty nice. I was intrigued by Randolph Macon because there aren't many schools of its size and type that actually have an engineering program that is self-contained. On the western edge of campus there is a really interesting road that is split by Amtrak rails. The south-bound single lane is especially close to the rails, which are slightly elevated. Just a block south of campus is the train station.

How does the 25% international affect the US student acceptance rate? My dc applied there regular decision. I'm just trying to understand.

The student body is 25% international students, which lowers that acceptance rate, making the real acceptance rate in the 40-50% range for US applicants. Great resources, superb faculty. Very good reputation. Has the feel of an LAC on the undergraduate level.

Very similar to Richmond academically. I believe it should be ranked far higher but I think the location scares some people - although it should not as its got great security. I was really impressed by this school when my DD looked and was accepted. She probably not going as got into a school ranked much higher (and higher than Richmond) but it was her safety that she would have happily attended.

I used to live near Fordham. It is in the middle of Manhattan. I think NYC is a great place to attend college but it is nothing like U Richmond. Fordham is next to massive projects. If you want an urban school like NYU but can't get into it, then you should consider Fordham. But, U of Richmond? No.

The main campus of Fordham is in a residential area of the Bronx. There is a Manhattan campus but it is secondary.
