| Hello. My DD really liked Richmond but we don't feel confident that she can get in. Can anyone recommend schools with a similar vibe that might be a little easier to get in (say 50% acceptance rate)? she is open to anywhere, geographically. she thinks she wants to major in biology. thanks! |
| Hmm. Bucknell, Reed College, Whitman College, Gettysburg College, Furman, Occidental. |
| Lehigh, Elon, Gettysburg |

How about Sewanne?

| OP is looking for schools about a 50% acceptance rate and people are responding with schools more selective than Richmond. DCUM being DCUM. |
| You just never know - DS has been rejected to some schools with 70% plus acceptance rate and accepted at 50% or less. |
| CNU, Elon |
| How is Reed anything like University of Richmond? |
| Maybe Rhodes College (Memphis) or Union College (NY), or Bard College (also in NY). |
Reed is true SLAC (1500 students). Richmond is more like 3500 students, so almost 2.5x as big. |

My HS friend is in the registrar’s office there. It is beautiful on the mountaintop there, but it is *very far* from anything. It’s like monastic living. |

Depends on what she liked about the vibe. If it's because it's a slightly larger SLAC maybe Bucknell, Lafayette or Oberlin. If it's because it's fairly politically moderate, has Greek life and is preppy, maybe Gettysburg or Bucknell again? If it was because it's a SLAC in/close to a city maybe Macalester or Kalamazoo.
All of this of course depends on how close she is to being able to get into U of R. |
| Look at Wofford in SC. It's smaller but a nice school. |
| Rhodes is a decent suggestion. University of Puget Sound and/or University of Denver might be what you're looking for, too. Possibly Clark. |

Fordham University. Great Bio sciences program and acceitance rate to med school (if thats your intrest). Acceptance rate around 50%. Protected enclave in a city. Very similar to Richmond academically. I believe it should be ranked far higher but I think the location scares some people - although it should not as its got great security. I was really impressed by this school when my DD looked and was accepted. She probably not going as got into a school ranked much higher (and higher than Richmond) but it was her safety that she would have happily attended.
