and this is a good thing? |
agree with pp. are we somehow compelled to replicate our bad expereinces for our children? our parents probably spanked us too but that doesn't mean I think that means it's approriate behavior for my children.
I visited some colleges but not the one I ultimately attended. But the visits to a range of schools helped me focus on what I liked and didn't like. Why rob our children of that experience unless you really can't afford it. |
"Can't understand giving up that kind of money (not that you're the one who gave up the million dollars) for such little benefit. "
Bragging rights, what else? |
Live and let live pp. Live your own life...not someone else's. |
There was this woman in my law school class who was smart but made clear that she had no interest in making a career of the law. Now she is at home with two kids and I'm boning her husband during our late nights at work. |
That's mean pp. |
Maybe it's mean. But I suspect the poster who says she gave up $1M was just a troll - otherwise why throw that out there on a thread that's on the subject of taking LOA, not on the subject of giving up your job entirely to be a SAHM? |
Because she was responding to a PP who bragged about having a TV in her office as an inducement to working outside the home. That's why. |
I'm the one who wrote about having a tv in the office to lighten the mood. Certainly, someone was trolling who said they would give up a $1M job. Probably ten women in the Greater DC area even make that much. |
Actually, that's a dramatic understatement. See if I can find data. |
Yeah - docs in this area make a ton of money. Surgeons can pull in over a million a year easily. |
A partner in a big law firm easily makes at least $1 million a year. |
i don't know about easily, but certainly within reason that there are at least a few women making that at the top ten firms. |
There still are only a very select few women who earn over $1M a year. |
right, but its more than ten. |
