That’s beyond asinine. There is no reasonable interpretation of the ADA that would conclude that it would be a reasonable accommodation to force others to mask to protect vulnerable people. The reasonable accommodation is to allow vulnerable people to continue to wear masks, which is still the case. |
This could be logically extended to any public building that any qualifying medically fragile person needs to visit. Public libraries, government buildings, etc. |
I agree that the reasonable accodomation is to allow masks optional. |
it also extends beyond covid. It's a ridiculous overreach |
Yes, I'd be opposed to a total ban on masks. There is some small percentage of kids with health issues that probably need to continue wearing masks. We should defer to their parents and their doctors. Just like the schools need to give deference to those of us that are comfortable with ending masking. |
Too funny. You're the ones who set that standard - 5+ years ago. |
And no one is asking you to. |
|
I have an immunocompromised niece who always wears a mask - well before Covid ever was a thing. She will have to continue masking, because she gets ill easily. But even she is quite firm about that being *her* issue - not everyone else's.
If you're medically fragile (or just neurotic) - by all means, keep masking! The rest of us don't have to. |
Laws can be changed again folks. Meanwhile I’ll take liberty at the risk of death. That is what America is about. If you want to be coddled and over governed go to Europe. |
And I honestly hope you get your wish. Just please stay home and die, don't go to the hospital. Stop wearing seatbelts too while you're at it, and disobey speed limits. Freedom! |
Seatbelts actually work. |
It's like they can't help it. They have to push more disinformation. Do you get a bonus or are you a zealot? I have more than a dozen ancestors who fought for liberty and a free nation when our country was founded. They are all.my ancestors because they did not catch yellow fever and die. But you do, sweets. |
Vaccines and seatbelts have proven to save lives in statistically significant numbers. Cloth or surgical masks, despite numerous attempts to prove they work, don't provide a statistically significant benefit. Why did they research this? Because developing countries don't have easy access to N95s. N95s can be protective, but they need to fit correctly. The average citizen or child isn't wearing them correctly. So, even N95s don't really work either due to misuse. But you keep on with your rituals that make you feel safer: The wiping of packages, Disinfecting door knobs, Perfuming yourself with Lysol, etc. |
Last I checked - Europe wasn’t masking kids. I would say if you want everyone to be locked down - go to China. |
And it’s not just freedom / no freedom - it’s a risk benefit analysis. And at this point - the risk / benefit of mandatory masks in school is not there. Mandating something on your face is a real imposition and should be sparingly used if freedom is to mean anything. |
