Look, I do the best I can to avoid crowded indoor places. Occasionally, I can't do a curbside pickup. If I must go inside somewhere, I wear my best quality mask (and have at times used my KN AND a lighter mask over it, depending on current local numbers), try to keep distance from people, steer away from the unmasked, etc. Target Circle and their drive up and I are very well acquainted. We also have done a lot of Wegman's pickup. We don't eat out in restaurants right now and when we wanted to dine out pre-omicron, we did so at a place with a good outdoor setup. We do the best we can to minimize our risk, which is the best we can all do. |
But cherry picking! |
Then have a policy that makes sense, instead of any old rag you can find is a mask. The current policy is theater. |
You have a 0.75% chance of dying from COVID. Better stop driving. |
Only if you're a sane/rational person who cares about their community. Not one of these self-absorbed anti-vax, anti-mask contrarian a-holes. |
DP. I’m vaxxed and boosted and wear a KN95 mask when I go out. But I think that should be my choice. Any facial covering mandate is intrusive and should be sparingly used and mask mandates in a time of wide vaccine availability is too intrusive. |
Like Stacey Abrams, Gavin Newsom, Eric Garcetti and on and on and on with the politicians that don't bother masking. I think they know a little bit more than you do and have decided it's fine not to mask if you're vaccinated. |
|
I am personally going to take a wait and see approach. Will likely continue masking for another month or so as we watch what happens elsewhere.
My eldest had Covid around New Years and none of the rest of our household caught it. We think it is because she was the farthest away from her last shot. That said, her case was mild and presented as a cold. She since has gotten her booster. We will continue to get our shots and mask up if cases go up again |
NP. And how long do plan to continue this routine? Indefinitely? You're certainly welcome to - but don't expect the rest of us to join you at this point. |
| That is a question I can’t answer right now. Numbers locally are still too high, so we will continue for the foreseeable future. I continue to track the news about variants and vaccine effectiveness over time. We will keep up with our boosters, hope for local numbers to continue to decline and cross our fingers for no more crazy variants to spring up. |
| What a “win” for Youngkin and Virginians, banning mask mandates at the tail end of a pandemic wave. Local parents better hope a nastier variant isn’t on the horizon, because we’ve just ceded local control to an ex-hedge fund guy auditioning for president to the stupidest of the stupid in red state America. If some northern Virginia kids have to die to keep the approval of the Fox News commentariat, so be it. |
You had nothing nasty to say when your legislature pushed through a bill that forced 'some northern Virginia kids' into classrooms at the height of the pandemic wave with rising cases and no vaccines for the majority of their population. So shut it. You get what you deserve. |
OMG. Be honest - you're hoping and praying for a "nastier variant". People like you thrive on drama and chaos. I mean, just re-read your post. Normal people do not say bizarre garbage like this. Be well. |
Do I think Youngkin would throw my kids under the bus in service of his political career, to score points with people who don’t live anywhere near here? Why yes, yes I do. He already is. COVID will certainly mutate again, as it has done several times already, and now we don’t even have the most basic of tools at our disposal to keep things somewhat normal for our kids because “my body my choice” people can opt to send their infected kids to school mask-free. People who vote for garbage like this man are deranged. Brain dead. |
Oh, the irony. You need help. |
