Yes, I DO see a huge difference. I was pointing out that I don't understand some dog owner's behavior in multiple different instances. Back away from the coffee, PP.... |
+1 Right? WTH? |
One of our Amazon delivery people does the same thing and shows it to the dog. I love it! And before people tell me that is training the dog to let a stranger with a treat in, I'm not worried and am not going to change how I feel about this interaction but you do you. |
| We have an Akita who alerts us when someone approaches the house with a woof. If they continue to come up to the door, he will stand at the door and watch. If they were to try to come in, he would bark like crazy and probably bite. I couldn't stand to have a dog that barks all the time and I do judge other dog owners that don't get the barking under control. You can and should train your dog to "quiet: under command. |

I feel safer at home because my dog barks. What if we trained her not to bark and therefore she was not the deterrent we need/want her to be?
|
| This has literally never crossed my mind as an issue. They are in their own home, they bark for 10 seconds and it's over, the end. Windows are shut and dogs are inside, no issue. |
| How to say you are "not a dog person" without saying you are "not a dog person". |
I have a related question: why do people think leaf blowers twice a week, three hours at a time is acceptable to your neighbors/neighborhood? |
+1 Not a "life" person. OP, people live their lives whether or not you exist or cease to exist or choose to (which it sounds like) just barely exist. Let them. |
| I’ve trained my dog to whisper hexes under her breath rather than shouting. It’s more effective that way. |
| My dog doesn't bark and I am so glad for that. We walk by one house in our neighborhood and the dog barks it's head off every time and yes, it is damn annoying. I couldn't imagine living with that racket. |
| I dont want my dog barking excessively, but Im happy for him to alert me of the presence of people on/near my property. As a frequent pedestrian, I don't mind dogs barking at me through windows, fences, but what really maddens me is the people with electric fences in the front yard where the dog charges at me and I'm supposed to know that it's "safely" contained inside the invisible fence. There are 2 people on my street whose HUGE dogs charge at everyone who walks by. They're menaces. |
OMG what is wrong with you? That's the perspective of Fluffy the lap dog. Let me at 'em let me at 'em. Those dogs think they are all that. He thinks that if only this glass were not in the way he'd be king of the world. That's why he barks. Not because he's stressed. And he's not really going to take you out. You need to step away from this thread. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/news/video-2336910/Video-Dogs-bark-ferociously-gate-closed.html |
You're in the Pet forum. I can't imagine how anyone is running a leaf blower for 3 hours at a time, but... there are groups better suited for your issue. If you are in NOVA check out Clean, Quiet NOVA. You're welcome. |
np No to bark collar unless we get to put it on you. Bark collars are inhumane. https://dragonpetdoor.com/blogs/news/bark-collars |
