Season 2 will feel like a long wait! At least they're shooting for late 2022, fingers crossed. So now I'm wondering will we get more back stories on characters who've barely had any lines, like Akilah and Mari, or will they be goners over the course of the season? Then there's Javi and Coach Ben, who seem the most likely to perish (if Javi hasn't already).

Melanie Lynskey suggesting Coach sticks around. I thought Season 2 hadn't been written yet, so not sure whether she actually knows this or is trying to keep everyone guessing.

We are certainly entertaining that notion, yes.

What can you say about other characters popping up in the present day that we haven’t seen yet?

I think it’s unlikely that we’ve met all the survivors from the crash.

Is the plan for any of them to be major characters? Or would they be more recurring players?

It all depends on the storyline that we come up with, but we could see another major survivor playing a pivotal role in Season 2.

The scene at the reunion when Nat was staring at the trophy case. I assume the individual pics were of those who did not make it back: I saw Jackie, Travis, and Akilah. Anyone else?

Ok, I was curious and took another look at the scene with the trophy case. At first I thought it was the team pic plus coaching staff and families individually (head coach with two boys, Coach Ben). No pic of Jackie I could see but there was definitely a separate one of Akilah, so hmmm...

"I guess we can tease for Season 2 – you know, there are other survivors out there and that will come into play. I also think that, much like we were discussing the supernatural before, the idea of belief and what people do and don’t believe in – that will be very central thematically to the second season. And I think that we’re well aware that we’ve maybe tried the viewership’s patience a little bit with our tease of cannibalism in episode one and I’d like to assure everyone that we will not be dragging that out forever, so get ready."
