There's a thread about this every year. It's mainly to see what the "in-pool" number is since the district isn't being transparent about that. For those interested in referring their kids to AAP, it matters. |
| I explicitly asked our AART for the cutoff, but they did not give it to me. |
Someone said they don't know. Gatehouse hasn't shared it. |
If there is no pool for 3rd graders, why do people worry so much about the pool? Wouldn't it make sense to just do a referral if you care? Kudos to those who don't get wrapped up in this insanity. |
Because the odds of acceptance are higher when you’re in the pool. |
| 1/3 of in pool kids get rejected. The whole process is not transparent and frustrating. |
| With the higher pool I bet you 1/3 won’t be rejected. Can you imagine them rejecting 1/4 of the 140 plus kids? |
| Anything is possible. In past also kids with scores above 140 have been rejected. Yes, but with higher cutoff the rejection will not be 1/3, it many not be even 1/4. |

| A handful of 140 plus were rejected. I am betting this higher pool is almost a sure thing. |
| Has anyone at all been in-pool with a score lower than 140 on their best element?? I think there was maybe one poster from West Springfield but I don’t recall any others. |
|
All title 1 schools pool will be much lower than 140, to focus on equity and increase number of AA and Hispanics. They have been underrepresented, hence to boost their chances and provide equal opportunities as kids of SES schools.
Is just that AAP standards should not fall abs it should serve the needs of gifted and advanced kids. The first few years with this change and we will find out if it works or not. |
I checked the whole thread again and it’s only justice (cogat composite 139) and west Springfield (composite 132) are below 140 cogat composite. Any one else with cogat composite score lower than 140 and got the in pool email? |
Title 1 schools parents are not posting here it seems. All posts are from high SES schools. I think it’s good not to know cut off of each school especially title 1 schools as it can become chaotic. Parents are stressing too much on something that’s not in their control. |
We are from a Title I school, but DC scored over 140 composite. And yes, we received the in-pool email. |
