Is Emory Overrated? Or Underrated?

Replying to your own thread?! We can tell because "exit oops" and "semi target" are part of the same pre-business lingo.

Emory makes the too 25 for best wall street placement seen here...

Definitely not the same person. But whatever makes you feel better.

The truth is that Emory simply is not that elite. It’s a good school but it tends to get way overhyped on here for some reason.

If Emory isn't elite then Vanderbilt, Cornell, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Carnegie Mellon and a host of other schools not ranked in the top 10 aren't either. Which is fine but just keeping you honest.

What? Cornell and Dartmouth are elite, no holds barred. But also, your point of comparisons don't even make sense. Emory isn't ranked above Vanderbilt, Cornell, or Dartmouth in any rankings.

there's no difference between schools ranked 11 to 25 or so. So if the school ranked 20 isn't elite then that must mean all of the schools in that group aren't.

You are delusional.

No it's you. Cornell is not Harvard. Employers will not see Cornell or Emory differently.

Everyone else in the World sees Cornell and Emory very differently:

FORBES: Cornell #13 and Emory #35

QS World University Rankings: Cornell #21 and Emory #160 (yes you read that right)

Wall Street Journal: Cornell #9 and Emory #24
.

I know you can read, reread the OP! The schools ranked 11-25 are in the same tier not that Emory is better than Cornell. You're purposefully being bird-brained and obtuse.

School US news WSJ starting Salary SAT
Cornell 17 11 69k 1420-1540
Emory 21 20 63k 1400-1520
Vandy 14 15 62k 1450-1560
Gtown 23 32 CNF 1380-1530
WashU 14 17 63k 1470-1570
Notre D 19 27 70k 1400-1550
Dartmouth 13 13 75k 1440-1560
Umich 23 24 56k 1340-1530

I never said Emory was better but was in the same tier/group. These numbers aren't Top 10, but they're better than schools in the next group down.
As you see Dartmouth (highest ranked) is a bit better and Umich(lowest ranked) a bit worse but they're all close enough that the differences in your child outcomes will not be noticed.

Comparing Emory's salary to Georgetown or UVA is not fair considering they aren't southern schools. Vandy and WashU are better comparison and Emory seems to do much better when things like major ( Emory does not have engineering) and test scores ( Vandy and WashU have higher scores) are taken into consideration. Along with the fact it's spikes in healthcare... to me it's underrated. It should be ranked 5 spots higher or so.

It’s irrelevant.

Emory grads are deeply unimpressive.

Says more about you than Emory.

Emory is absolute tops in many healthcare fields. Especially Nursing and Public Health.

Solid business school and strong liberal arts. It produces top kids and top outcomes.

The South is a preferred destination and it competes with Vanderbilt and Rice for the #2 spot. Duke is still clearly number 1 for now.

But, with over 35K applicants, a 33-35 average ACT for admits and an acceptance rate in the mid teens, it's hard to say anything other than it's properly or underrated.
Anonymous
PP is obviously not from the South.

I suppose it cuts some ice in the Atlanta area. But that''s about it. Otherwise, it's not a name that jumps off the resume as wow.

Emory graduate with a successful career as a civil rights attorney and law professor. My classmates are also doing very well, unlike the bitter posters here.

So what are these secret firms that don't recruit at the overrated Emory or WashU? They must not pay any better.

DP but Emory is not super well-regarded in either finance or consulting, this in spite of the fact that it had a dedicated undergrad business program. Smart kids out of Emory will still do well for themselves, but they’ll have to work harder than kids from literally any of the other schools you listed above.

Proof of that? Because this says otherwise
https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1010579.page
This also says the opposite
https://www.bloomberg.com/business-schools/industries/consulting

Ranked 15 for consulting and 21 for finance???!

Proof of what? A great number of students in Engineering major would not land a job in IB, how could it be adjusted for ug enrollment. I also have a proof here
https://www.peakframeworks.com/post/ib-target-schools where Emory has much fewer graduates working in Top4 IB in the US, but I would not trust these third-party websites. Emory has its UG outcome herehttps://apply.emory.edu/discover/facts-stats/after-graduation.html, its B-school starting salary is much lower than that of Georgetown and UVa. Funny thing, Emory proponents alway ignore these authorized stuff and turn to those on third party websites

You wouldn't trust the "third party" websites, but have nothing else to go by?

Unless you went to Duke, you shouldn't be talking. Sounds like you went to Gatech (or BC) though, which is comical.

If this makes you feel better, would be better to brag if Georgetown, Notre Dame, UVA, or any of the other schools you mentioned could cut through the rankings like Emory can.
