I think grandparents are out of touch now because a lot of us waited so long to have kids

I was a decade older when I had my child than my parents were when they had me. They are old boomers and had major generational conflict with their parents. Classic working class kids go off to college, my dad served in Vietnam which was radicalizing for my parents because they realized that many of the systems they believed in unconditionally were corrupt, they ran off and bought a farm. I'm much more like my parents in terms of class, education, and values. They are very good and involved grandparents. My grandparents were nice enough, but lots of explaining by my parents that "no that joke grandad said was not okay and you are not to repeat it."
