| I thought Crystelle had it until that focaccia. They couldn't even eat it. |
What happened there? Was it all the oil? I’m surprised she didn’t realize it was raw when she put it on the display. |
Whoa I had no idea she was in her 80s! Wow. I need to know her skin care and exercise routines. And lol at that tweet. But I think she might have just used too much oil? Remember she kept talking about how there's never too much oil - that, plus her weird dream, was some foreshadowing. |
I don't get it either. |
I think there was waaaay too much oil. They kept showing the bread swimming in oil. I don’t think it was “raw” so much as just poached in oil (more like a big dumpling). |
Yes! Exactly this! I make focaccia all the time and my 11 year old looked at that and said “she’s ruining her focaccia.” |
LOL. That's classic! Although, drat. I have been saving the last episode for tonight when I have night duty with my FIL (he is ill and needs one of us to sit up with him). I am still excited to watch it, though. It is such a wonderful show! |
Thank you for the validation on this one. I stopped watching for years and couldn't stomach Matt and Noel. I only was able to deal with them by watching the first covid season and theb binging it all backwards to season 1. Only the I could tolerate them. I loved Mel and Sue. I would have them back in a heartbeat. |

I was surprised Giuseppe let his belgian buns turn so dark brown. Surely he'd have recognized the tell-tale signs in enough time given how glued he was to staring at the oven.
And Chrystelle's deep fried focaccia? That's why it was raw, it was deep fried, not baked. A good baker would have known right away that it was way too much oil. I attribute both to nerves and pressure that they didn't think clearly. The big question is if Chrystelle's focaccia had been perfect, would have she won? Somehow I suspect not. I think Paul really wanted Giuseppe to win. I'm not one for conspiracy theories but I do think Paul recognized a level of professionalism in Giuseppe and wanted to reward it. Not even Jurgen had the picture perfect precision that Giuseppe's bakes had. |
Noel said during the discussion with Paul and Prue afterward that he may have distracted him, and I wonder if that was what really happened. He was watching them bake and Noel kept talking to him. I also wonder why that is why they didn’t really hold it against him, as much, in the end. Paul did have that comment about how he thought Giuseppe was going to be the winner after the first day. |
I love Mel and Sue, but I love Noel too. |
| I absolutely love Noel. He was fantastic with Sandy, so I was so sad to see her go. Matt was better this season, but that’s not saying much. Hope they will replace him, but doubtful. |
| I hate that we aren’t able to see the all the special editions of GBBO - would love to see the Stand Up To Cancer shows with the celebs. Hopefully, we’ll at least get to see the Christmas special! |
| Even as someone that has never made focaccia, I could tell that something was seriously wrong with Crystelle’s dough. Waaaaay too oily and wet. Think she might have won if not for that huge error. Great to see how well all 3 finalists got along. Will miss the show. Now back to repeats! |
| Did anyone else find it weird how the show focused so much on Giuseppe’s parents during this last episode? I get the emotional aspect of his Dad being sick etc makes for emotional TV, but there was not one mention of his wife or kids in this episode even after he won. No congratulatory phone call - nothing. |
