Falls Church vs. Alexandria

How do these places compare with each other? Is Falls church generally desirable because of equal accessibility to most nice areas and better schools? How do their vibes compare / differ?

Falls Church all day, not even close. Better by pretty much every metric.

urch has better schools, restaurants, feel, safety, services. Old town is cute but not worth the crime and failing schools and horrible traffic. Falls church may even be a better commute to most places in NOVA and DC

You do mean Falls Church City?

I really don't like Falls Church. I know the schools in FC City are supposed to be great but I just don't care enough to descend into full suburb vibes. Del Ray / Old Town makes me feel like I still live in a city

I prefer Alexandria City to Falls Church City, but the Falls Church part of Fairfax County to the Alexandria part of Fairfax County.

I live in FCC with a walk score of 95. I walk across the street to groceries, two blocks to target, 3 parks within walking distance, school in the neighborhood and countless restaurants and bars. Much much better walkability than Del Ray and Old Town

I like FCC but it does not have "much better walkability than Old Town". Old town has over 100 restaurants and 200 shops within a 10 minute walk of King and Washington St. It also has a thriving waterfront, 4 supermarkets, museums, 4 parks, etc. To say FCC has better walkability than Old Town just shows that you have never walked in Old Town.

Like with all things it depends. Some parts of old town Alexandria such as waterfront are very desirable and expensive. Some parts are low income housing. You can ask the same question about dc or any or their city. You gotta be more specific with your question.

I prefer living in FCC, I smell a lot of pot walking in Alexandria-otherwise I like hanging out there, I personally do not mind but really do not want my kids exposed to second hand marijuana.

where in Alx are you walking? I almost never smell pot here (all the time in DC though, even Georgetown)

Alexandria is more desirable. As cute as it can feel to live in a city that is basically one big neighborhood, Alexandria can really be a pleasant and insular environment that is connected and accessible to any area of the core region. Old town is a pretty dynamic place, with a lot of growth near old town north and Potomac Yard. Del Ray provides quaint living, and when you combine all that with Rosemont, Beverly Hills, and Seminary Hill, you get a relatively large area that is safe, engaging but still grounded.

Falls church is simply too small.

Different markets. FCC is significantly more expensive than Alexandria other than a few houses around Old Town.

Falls church. Much less crime. The homeless shelter is an issue though.

What a weird comment? I’ve lived in Alexandria for 20 years in OT, Del Ray and Rosemont and never have I ever smelled pot anywhere. And I work from home so I am out and about in Alexandria 7 days a week. This has to be a troll.
