| Big upcoming family vacation - about 20 of us renting separate condos in the same area and will be getting together for lunches and dinners. We’ve been assigned a dinner shift and looking for ideas to help feed the crowd. There are a couple vegetarians in the mix so need options that can be customized for them. Other groups have already said they plan to do a pizza night, burgers on the grill, and taco night. Any other ideas??? I usually cook for 4, so this is quite different. Vacation spot is at the beach in April, weather will be 80s, so trying to avoid suggestions like Lasagna and other thinks I associate with cold weather comfort foods. |
| I’m curious, what beach and condo building? |
| Pasta bar |
| Kebabs, hummus, pita, tabbouleh |
| Similar to tacos, but sheet pan fajitas. Super easy prep and can definitely feed a crowd. |
| Takeout. Cooking for 20 people on vacation sounds miserable. Plus you are going to be left with a bunch of extra food ingredients you are now stuck with/have to take home or trash |
We will be in Hilton head / one family member has a large(er) home there so we will be gathering for meals there and have a real kitchen set up to work with. |
| Good ideas above, I'd also recommend planning for at least 1 night of "eat the leftovers" / smorgasbord near the end of the trip because you'll surely have some odds and ends that didn't get eaten during the week (including snacks/appetizers). |
| Grilled pork chops, with lettuce wraps. Asian slaw, rice and salad. Can use Vietnamese, Korean or Chinese flavors, tofu or mushrooms for the vegetarians. |
Love this idea |
+1 This sounds great!! Separate facilities - whether house, condo, whatever...... Count me in! |
| Grill something other than burgers- maybe chicken and veggies? |
|
Salad bar. With protein to bulk it up - hard boiled eggs, beans, grilled chicken etc. This is good towards the end of the trip when there might be leftovers to add, like grilled veggies.
Charcuterie. Meats, cheeses, fruit, nuts, bread, crackers, veggies, hummus, olives. And some party appetizer type things, depending on what people like - samosas, spanikopita, dumplings. |

Whatever you make, have a killer dessert. Brownies and ice cream with whipped cream and sprinkles, or Texas sheet cake, are crowd pleasers and it’s all people remember anyway.
I’d do a ball park theme with hot dogs/tofu pups, and choice of toppings. Chicago dog (pickle? Relish?), Detroit coney with chili and onions and shredded cheese, NY dog with sauerkraut and mustard, cali dog with guacamole, plus baked beans, coleslaw, a few kinds of chips. Popsicles for dessert or an assortment of ice cream novelties. It’s all pretty much canned, but with cute signage it looks like you exerted mighty effort. |

Different sandwiches. Cold cuts, chicken/tuna salad. Maybe with a soup or a chili.
This sounds like so. Much. Work. |
