Teacher slaps student

I think a bunch of students stood up for the teacher. Weird place.

Wow. We can’t tolerate a teacher physically assaulting a student out of uncontrolled rage. It sounds like this guy was a much beloved teacher who was going to retire at the end of this school year and now he’s jeopardized his retirement because he couldn’t control himself. I’m sure the kid had misbehaved, but whatever the kid did, chasing him down and physically assaulting him is not okay.

I'm not condoning what the teacher did, but teachers (and I am not one) have paid the price for parents not parenting their kids during the pandemic.

I have empathy for the teacher, empathy for the teen, but likely very little for the teen's parents/guardians.

It was more than just a slap. The force of the slap pushed his head back causing his head to strike the wall behind him. He immediately grabbed the back of his head and crumpled down to the floor.

Or maybe you are seeing kids suffering the mental health impacts of the pandemic. Please stop blaming parents for all ‘bad behavior.’

What happened before this? Something must of happened for him to go after this kid like this.

There is absolutely no circumstance where I would support this teacher after seeing this video. And I support many teachers/principals etc in my family and friend group; times are tough for them. I still can't see any way this is ok.

For all we know this kid just assaulted another student. If that were the case I really wouldn't feel bad for what happened to him.

You don’t have to feel bad for the kid, but the teacher does have to obey the law.

um...no? Because a teacher slapped him we are assuming the kid is in the wrong? I am saying, my personal opinion, is that there is NEVER a time I will support an adult in a position of authority physically assaulting a child. I can see the child saying something back to the teacher, and the teacher responded by losing control. Again, not an acceptable response. I also see the other teacher coming out of a classroom to intercede, and it appears she asks him to walk away, and he also verbally responds to her negatively.

Also, none of what I wrote above makes any difference. An adult assaulted a child causing physical harm. I don't need to know any backstory.

I suppose you never support "children" being charged like adults when they commit heinous crimes either.
