Hi, Northwestern vs. Duke for a South Asian male kid who likes coding, math and history but also really likes football and sports in general [not good at playing but really enjoys the social aspect]. From a private school in south. When asked non academic wishes---he said a vibrant sports culture. Has lived in NE for several years before moving so can tolerate the cold.
He has good academic credentials though I know these schools are a reach for almost all. Thoughts on fit? Wants to study computer science but has interest in some humanities as well. Thank you! |
| Duke |
| I thought both schools were early decision? how does he have acceptances to both? |
A junior starting to think about ED. |
| Northwestern, hands down. |
gotcha. I misread your post. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Duke sports culture is probably better than NU's, though. |
Yep |
Thanks for the responses---any specific reasons? |
we're not mind readers, lady |
Thank you. Something in digital humanities...don't ask me! |
Digital humanities sounds very much up Northwestern's alley. They do the whole "left brain, right brain" thing very well. |
| Northwestern. Top theater, music, communications, and journalism programs, in addition to liberal arts and engineering, just make it an interesting place. |
If he doesn’t have any strong preferences, Northwestern, because it has wonderful classes and it’s great living near Chicago. |
+1 |
| Duke for the sports culture. |
