Deal bathrooms

Why is Deal keeping the bathrooms locked in Reno every day? My kid has to go all the way to the main building to find one that is unlocked.

Because kids are trashing them and being brats about it

So you lock out 3 teams (~300 kids) because you can’t punish two or three? What is that teaching them?

You should ask Ms. Neal.

It was her policy.

My kid did and was told that kids should figure out who is messing them up and tell her. That isn’t my kid’s job.

Oh well, I guess your kid will have to continue their bathroom trek to the main building (shrug).

This is a crazy behavior. Why the principal don't stop these kids and send them home or better they can do social work .Parents need to put more attention to their kids actions.

Wow. That’s crazy. Is your child also being told that he/she is under contract by DCPS?

It does matter because it can’t happen within a 4 minute change of classes. This means that my kid has to miss 10 minutes of class twice a day rather than 0.

It's nuts. My kid is an 8th grader and won't even use the bathroom because of kids being in there harassing others. There doesn't seem to be any discipline at the school.

Locking the bathroom seems to be a type of discipline. I'm not really sure what you want the adults to do other than be stationed in a bathroom all day

I want an adult in a bathroom all day if that means that kids can go to the bathroom.

Ha! Locking the bathrooms to all students isn't discipline against the troublemakers harassing other kids in the bathroom. Instead of disciplining those who need it, DCPS takes it to the lowest denominator. This is a theme.

Uhhhh. Maybe you should volunteer? I know ZERO people who will take a job with the requirements of standing in a middle school bathroom all day.

I would but it would never fly so not worth spending time here debating it.

The school needs to step up and at least provide something so basic as safe bathrooms. My student says there’s been no soap all year.
