HS Party with Alcohol... Death

Anonymous
The police report says some of the alcohol at the Saltzman residence was purchased by a 21 year old sibling of one of the kids at the party. Haven't yet heard if that individual will be charged along with Kenneth Saltzman and Samuel Ellis.

There is a statement from Murks parents- it won't let me post a link but it's on WUSA

Ah, the "benzo" wasn't valium, it was xanax.

I just read the 3 page statement by Mr. and Mrs. Murk, Alex's grieving parenting. I'm sobbing with pain and sorrow about the despicable callousness of parent lawyer Kenny Saltzman and his daughter who knowingly hosted the booze party the night that killed Alex and Calvin. What scum is worse than the two of them? They saw the kids were completely smashed... and then driving away. Who allows that?

It says the current Maryland law allows parent Party Host Lawyer Kenneth Saltzman a maximum $2500. fine. No jail time. Did I get that right? Bastards.

My gratitude to the Montgomery Police Department for their diligent work. They deserve to be honored for their incredible work.

This devastating story has flooded the wtop air waves since Friday. Seems like several times every hour. They have no fear, unlike WaPo.

No real solace, but it's potentially a much larger fine than that. It's $2,500 for the first underage drinker (not including his own kids) at the party, and then $5,000 for every additional underage drinker. So if they can prove, let' say 10 kids drinking at the house, then the parent could be fined $47,500 total.

What is sad is that they are looking into manslaughter for the driver and not the father that allowed the alcohol, didn't take keys and let these kids drive home drunk. And hearing that the families of all these kids that knew what happened, didn't talk makes me sick. What an awful community Wootton is turning out to be.

Any consequences for the party girl who hosted the illegal booze party?

Is she a minor or an adult? There may be if she's an adult.

Between the hosting adult parent and the 18 yr old driver, it doesn't seem right that one pays a minor fine and one goes to jail.

According to the Bethesda Magazine article, Montgomery County already has the necessary laws to put Lawyer Saltzman in jail. But if the judge is your buddy, good luck with that.

So the Bethesda Mag got the law wrong? The statement by the parents indicated that there"d be no hosting-parent jail time.

Wasn't the host girl an 18 yr old classmate?
