Yeah, just don’t organize your home, your schedule, your kids, or your life around any sort of stable expectation of benefits or work schedule. Like you can with visually every other job on earth, from garbage man to McDonald’s to doctors.

They might change it up on you arbitrarily, just to live a point. Sounds lovely!

RIFs are currently blocked by the courts. Depends on whether SC grants emergency stay on the preliminary injunction.

No, shrinkage as in being forced to RIF people. If they get this budget and too many people leave, they’ll have the money to hire replacements.

Most people still, on the whole, feel like it is a good job, and I highly doubt we will have trouble hiring if there are openings.

No, we’ll still get tons of apps from people at other agencies who want that finreg pay bump. The’ll still be plenty of people who will have served their time in Biglaw and will be happy for the job. Maybe the number of qualified people per slot will go down somewhat, but you can only hire one person for one slot and I doubt there will be trouble finding good people.

Nah, not suckers. Just people who have a semblance of perspective to recognize that, even if it isn’t as good a gig as it has been (and likely will again be eventually), it’s nowhere near the hellscape you describe and it’s better than lots of options out there.

i'm not sure how many times PA and division heads can say that the SEC is not recommending any RIFs before you hear it. The SEC proposed RIF plan is no RIF.

And of course no one can actually guarantee that means there will be no RIFs. Just that the next move on the chess board is the admins, not the SECs.

I do think it's far more likely that DOGE will cripple the remaining staff by cutting all contracting staff to the bone. Congrats, you keep your job and get a few other jobs to do as well.

We have a platform that they are testing in the cloud and in the meantime running in parallel on servers. No more parallel testing, hope it all works out!
