Only the top 20-22 will be deserving, as that's the size of the team. |
Sure, if that’s how the decisions are actually made. |
Right, look at the AS teams from the summer and tell me "they got it right" |
That's not what the PP said. They were saying there were more than 22 deserving peeps for 22 spots. When in reality, that's never the case. |
Are you saying there are less than 22 players deserving of a spot? Who were the evaluators at the tryouts? Obviously coaches will favor girls that are in a club/school they are affiliated with. |
Did they pick this team yet? I can’t wait to hear the gossip. |
He's in between a rock and a hard space. Does he really take the top talent or does he take based on his own club/team/school affiliation. End of day, it won't matter, they play C teams. |
Good points. The reality is the most competitive play they’ll get out of this is the tryout that already happened. |
These are 2030's. They have no school affiliation with GC. Rebels don't have a 2030 team. Everybody knows all the good Renegades players have left. What choice does he have besides selecting the best players? |
2030s will primarily be the HG, MDU, and BLC girls with some others sprinkled in. If any of the Renegades girls were borderline for the final few spots I could see him giving it to them but I don't think they were close to borderline.
2029s are a different story because a few of the best Renegades are good enough. |
There are kids who have siblings at GC who clearly are in that GC pipeline. There are kids with siblings who've done MD Select before. End of day, he is a coach of Renegades/Rebels. |
30s are in 7th grade so it is not unheard of for families to start considering what high schools they want. And it does not hurt to get seen early by the coach. |
Agreed. While it would be expected that a team be merit based, there’s always some level of politics involved in tryouts and the roster. |
And usually it's the last few spots of the roster. |
When will the roster be posted? |
