I think a staff meeting is more important than a parent meeting. Parents (like whoever drafted that email) do not represent the entire staff. Not one of those issues in the email was actually a staff concern.

I knew the issues raised in that email were a smokescreen for the real issue: teachers are unhappy with the new admin. So like I stated earlier, they should meet with their boss to discuss. And they should not talk about any of it with parents.

I am in agreement but it sounds like he is doing that.

Good. It should be an internal meeting that doesn’t involve parents.

The principal held a parent coffee meeting last week and freely discussed the issues.

The problem is some of the disgruntled teachers spoke poorly about the principal to certain parents, who have taken it upon themselves to speak up on behalf of the teachers. Very odd. Maybe they think it’s going to curry then favor somehow but it won’t. It will just make them look batsh*t.

I'm sure a lot of teachers are probably hesitant to come forward and show face. If they speak out publically and nothing happens, great. Now they have a big huge target on their back with their boss. It's not easy to come forward and jeopardize their job/life.

Same as a parent. I don't want want to be know by admin as someone who tried to de-throne you and now you'll potentially take it out on my child.

The teachers should know how to communicate their grievances in a way that does not put a giant target on their back or jeopardize their career. That email was the perfect example of how not to communicate your grievances to your boss without putting a giant target on your back or jeopardizing your career.

Same goes for parents. Parents should know how to communicate their grievances with their child’s teacher/ admin without coming across as a “Karen” or worrying about teachers/Admin taking it out on their kids. Bashing them on an anonymous forum is the perfect example of how not to do that.

And in both cases, if speaking up in a calm, logical manner gets you labeled as a “Karen” or jeopardizes your career, report it to the appropriate person and document, document, document.

The previous admin certainly did nothing about our grievances with specific teachers, that’s for sure.

With that many staff members voluntarily leaving and a bunch of parents complaining about the new administration, that's a pretty good indication that something isn't right. There needs to be a discussion. How is this not even a concern to some.

Let’s take a look at the teacher blogs that are bashing students. Maybe it’s time to post those screenshots?

“It’s all so gross”? You talk like a 13 girl trying to be in the cool clique.

Is this something that happens across FCPS/the teaching profession, or is this behavior specific to Navy teachers? Genuinely curious. Trusting that what you say will not be shared outside of a private group is beyond naive. Anyone can grab screenshots.

You talk like the parent who maybe started all this. I guess being part of the cool clique didn't work out for you.

That’s good. This problem is going to fade when the remnants of the last administration go away. For a few parents still pining for Jon is only in the upper classes and should be gone in a couple years. And if all the teachers are leaving that want Jon back so much and we get new teachers that don’t even know him… then Navy will be great! I look forward to it and encourage the new principal to just hang in there. The majority of us parents have your back.

Also, if anyone honestly thinks your home prices are tied to the teachers at Navy then you may just be the dumbest person on the planet.
