Elon Musk buys $3 billion stake (9.2%) in Twitter and is now the platform's largest shareholder

Eh, most people don't care about Twitter anyhow, and many fewer average people will care now.

It's ridiculous and disgusting and makes me think less of billion dollar companies and million dollar politicians and actors, actresses, writers, and so on that they are complaining about a measly $8 a month.

They think that is some big hit to their wallet??? How do they think normal people feel when their food price goes up $8 a week! And these are the people you idolize bc you think they are standing up for some principal. NO they aren't.

And smarter people see this coming to other platforms. It will happen. And I don't blame companies for doing this.

You don’t seem all that familiar with the topic. Other platforms share advertising revenue with the creators who provide content. And guess what, charging a corporation or celebrity to be associated with the vile rantings of racists and antisemites. But charging monthly for the “prestige” of a blue check is not just silly. It’s dumb. Advertisers are the customers of social media and Musk couldn’t be bothered to do any outreach before firing his content moderation team and floating this idea. He, like any fragile edgelord, is monumentally bad at actually running a business.

It would be hysterical if someone started a tweet about some horrible rumor about Trump, and Trump sued Twitter over it.

i know, I saw that, which is why I posted, but "Trump is dead" is benign. I'm thinking something even juicier that would make his head explode, like.. "Trump was an F student at Penn and his profs said he was the dumbest f*er they had the misfortune of teaching"... something that would hit his ego, bigly

They way that he likes to spread his seed, I'm not sure that would be off brand for him

Musk is demonstrating how deeply unserious he is. The C-Suite is being escorted out of the building. He hasn’t addressed his employees, who have no idea what is going on with rumors of 3,700 layoffs tomorrow. People are reluctant to post information on Slack. Musk hasn’t consulted with advertisers because he’s busy sh1tposting at AOC and musing with his VC bros about hosting adult content. Meanwhile Tesla is paying its engineers to review Twitter code. There isn’t an adult in the room to be in charge. It’s a world class dumpster fire. And Bank of America thought this was a grand idea.

BoA funded this? No way!

Glad I don't bank there anymore. SMH

Looking forward to whether CFIUS opens an inquiry into the Saudi role in the acquisition.
