My symptoms started 7 days ago. I had mild cold symptoms, a little fatigue early on, no fever, and no lung involvement from what I can tell. Is there some sort of guideline on when I can get back to running outside? I’ve felt fine for a couple days now, but don’t want to do anything stupid. If this were an actual cold, I probably would have run on the days I wasn’t fatigued and definitely would be running now. (I’m vaxxed and boosted.) What did you do? Did you check back in with a doctor? |
There's a WSJ op-ed (with interviews from sports doctors) that recommends just treating it like recovery from the flu or bronchitis, i.e. another moderate respiratory illness. According to that article, you should feel free to get back to it but listen to your body and warm up slowly. |
I had a bad bad cold that tested negative but was possibly Omicron, based on timing and symptoms, and I got back to exercising maybe 8 days after symptom onset? Whenever I felt better enough to run. |
I’m a CPT, not a doctor. My rule of thumb is exercise is fine if symptoms are above the neck. Any symptoms below the neck and I rest. I’ll practice gentle yoga or walk. But nothing intense. If I’m coughing or running a fever, I dramatically decrease intensity.
It goes without saying, no group exercise if you have any symptoms of covid. Even if you think it’s “just allergies”. Get tested or stay home. We just had an outbreak at the yoga studio where I teach. No one needed that. |
I walked when i felt good enough during the 10 days. I slowly came back to running although at this point, i'm doing an indoor bike and strength training. Just take it easy for the two weeks after the 10 days. |
Just take it slow. I found I lost probably 5-10% of my running fitness. But I also took a total of almost a month of. I ran a 5K distance on Friday at a slowish 29 minute pace and my heart rate was much higher than I would have expected. Also super stressed with work. Otherwise good. Had covid over New Years |
I'd say - if you feel sick and test negative, wear a mask and don't do to a group class. I've found that people test negative in the early days of the infection, but are still contagious. Many examples of this in my own circle of friends/family |
Lots of posts deleted for some reason. I thought I had pretty much recovered, worked hard outside in the heat, and had a heart attack. The ER doctor said he’s seen a lot of young people with strokes and heart attacks with Covid. Inflammation. Please rest and let your body recover. To whomever keeps reporting my experience for what? Disinformation? I’m sorry you don’t want to believe this, but it’s true. Telling people to rest while ill is not dangerous medical advice worth reporting. |
Fake news. I was fine after a week and I am a serious athlete |
You are ONE person. |
I started exercising again 4-5 days after I tested positive and felt fine. |
Good for you. Not everyone is so lucky. |
Listen to your body and always good advice. |
Damn |
Your assertion that "a lot of young people" are having heart attacks and strokes from covid is not supported by actual data. A lot of fat, unvaccinated, 60 yr old veterans are having heart attacks. |
