Eating fruit at dinner table with dinner

Is it weird to have dinner then in that same seating eat some fruit after?
If you are still hungry, shouldn't you eat more dinner or veggies?

Is the fruit serving as dessert? Either way, if you're still hungry, fruit is a fine choice. Why is that weird?

No, it's not weird, either to eat fruit as a dessert, or to have it as a side with a meal. We pretty much always have fruit, and vegetables on the table at a meal.

OP here. I think it's weird that I am putting veggies from dinner in tupperware while DH is grabbing fruit? Why not actually eat a full dinner? You shouldn't be hungry right after dinner.

I think it's weird that you police what a grown man eats, especially when he's making such a healthy choice. Why not consider the fruit part of a full dinner?

Maybe he just wants something sweet. I eat fruit in the evenings often. I'm it necessarily hungry, but it's a better choice that ice cream.

Fruit IS PART OF a healthy meal. It's a little concerning you are not aware of this, OP. They provide valuable vitamins, minerals, and fiber.

Both my family and my husband's family eat fruit as dessert for dinner.

My French host family ate fruit at the end of dinner every night. It was clementine season, and it was the perfect way to end the meal.

Are you offended? Do you think he doesn't like your cooking?

If I want to eat an apple, I’m going to eat an apple, not more peas. Because peas and apples aren't fungible. Next question.

OP here, fair enough.

I routinely slice up fruits and veggies and place them in the center of the table. It's mostly for my kids because it gives them options if the main course isn't their favorite, and it's a good way to use up fruits and veggies.

If I didn't have kids, I can see doing this especially if dinner is a little more indulgent so you choose a smaller portion size, but are still a bit hungry. Whole fruit has fiber and is filling.

Because he doesn't want veggies and rather have fruit. Eating is not about getting full but about getting nutrients your body needs.
