How often are you sore?

I work out 6 days a week… cycle through leg day, upper body day, full body day, yoga day, throw in some core, etc… Im usually sore (in a good way) a few days a week… does anyone who works out regularly with different exercises NOT get sore anymore?

No. Often sore. Sometimes not so much. Sometimes a lot.

I primarily lift weights and run. I change up my weight workouts every 4 weeks and I'm usually most sore the first week when i am doing new exercises.

But if you are doing different exercises all the time it makes sense that you will be sore. The way it typically works is that you will be sore the first time you challenge your body in a new way; a new exercise, more weight. Then you shouldn't be sore if you stimulate your body in the same way within 2 weeks.

Occasionally sore. Like today, I’m noticing my obliques are a little sore from a core/ lower body workout I did yesterday.

Usually I don’t get really sore unless I neglect an area for a few weeks, or I try something new or unusually intense.

I run, do HIIT and lift weights. Normally I only get a little sore if I add a new exercise. Or sometimes if I go extra hard on glute day I will have a little lingering soreness but like a PP said, sore in a good way. Rarely do I have any pain/stiffness unless I pull something.

FWIW I do take collagen peptides for post workout recovery. I can't tell if its made a difference but my hair and nails are growing like crazy

Work out 5x a week and sometimes get sore. That means back off on exercising that part of the body for a bit.

Workout 5x for a while. I still get sore from time to time. I often lift until muscles have completely failed. When I'm trying to break a plateau I'll overload the weights for heavy weights and low reps. After those days where I lift heavy and train to failure I can get sore. The soreness definitely isn't as bad as when you first start though.

I've found that if I drink my water with BCAAs I do not get sore normally. Sometimes, I try for soreness by lifting extremely heavy or really pushing myself (crazy long and hard HIIT) because I like the feeling.

Bottom line...try some BCAAs

I was sore all week because I slacked off for a while - It was a great feeling

I'm basically always sore.

If I take at least one or two days off with no exercise at all I generally get a little sore, but it wears off quickly. If I start getting cocky and do a workout in the morning before work and another after, I will start getting sore and lasts longer until I give the body a rest. If I don't drink enough water that also causes me unnecessary soreness. Sounds like you are pushing yourself pretty hard and not taking enough time to let your body heal. Maybe give yourself two days off in a row instead of one. And if you are getting into or already in middle age it does take more time to recover.

When I first started out, I was sore every day. Especially hobbling out of bed in the morning. But now that I’ve been consistent for over a year (6x a week), I am no longer sore. Stretching helps and eating protein helps.

When I'm not sore for a couple weeks straight, it's a sign I need to increase the resistance.

If you've been working out for a while and still getting sore that means your are working too hard. Too much volume. I don't know what your goals are so I can't comment whether this is right or wrong but for the average person (whose been working out routinely), it's totally wrong to be sore after workouts.

Totally disagree. After 30 years of lifting, whenever I really shake it up I'm sore. And grateful for that feeling. In reading this thread I'm reminded that it's time to change something up soon. Sameness begets sameness...
