MCPS covid cases

I'm not sure if the numbers since December 3 are reliable, given the hack of state servers.

Sure, no problem. This semester, my high school kid’s AP history class has been taught at various times by their PE teacher, their band director, their French teacher, and one day, by nobody. Everything is fine. Nothing to see here.

(To clarify: all this because their teacher has long Covid. )

Fortunately, teachers can now be vaccinated and boostered.

This teacher was vaccinated, but I think they got it before boosters were approved.

It was this year, and they told the kids.

They told the kids that the teacher was fully vaccinated and caught COVID while fully vaxxed and developed long COVID? That's quite a bit of detail.

Surely no one would lie or exaggerate on DCUM! I'm sure that must be true.

Oh well. It is getting hard to believe that MCSP can stay in-person uninterrupted.

They could put more precautions in place. They don’t care. Neither do parents.

Like what? Be specific. There’s a parent at our school who keeps harping on the need for smaller class sizes, but fails to explain how to find more staff and more space (school is at, if not slightly over, capacity). There aren’t even enough subs. Most schools have some sort of outdoor lunch arrangement even if it’s on a rotational basis. What exactly do you want? “More testing” is not really a precautionary measure.

The best thing MCPS can do at this point is make it easy for parents to get their kids vaccinated, and they seem to be trying to do that with the evening/weekend clinics.

Seriously? You can very easily get vaccinated at many different pharmacy's, doctor offices and the county. What more do they need to do?

Testing can show how much covid is in the school and isolate cases. Lazy parents like you will not take them to test, given you need the county to come to you for covid vaccines, let alone anything else.

No, it's not.

How can a school stay open if a large number of students/teachers are sick???

Easy. Less kids. Other teachers cover. You could sign up to be a sub.

Right, no problem at all. That's absurd that teachers need to be cover additional classes. Why don't you volunteer to teach since you are smarter than everyone else?

Raise sub pay—and more to the point, process the applications of parents who have said they are willing to sub. My husband applied weeks ago. Not a peep from MCPS.

Your husband can work for low pay just like everyone else. That's not happening....Maybe your husband isn't qualified.
